He won't do it...3 y/o is so stubborn! Help!

My older boy just turned 3 a couple weeks ago. He has pooped in the potty once, a long time ago and then outright refused. Now, we've been putting him in cloth training pants during the day and he keeps them dry all day. 8:30am til 1:30 today. We sat him on the potty numerous times including right before nap and he wouldn't go. So we put plastic training pants on and laid him in bed. He peed within 3 minutes. UGH! I was trying not to give him a diaper so he would tell me when he needed to go but that failed.

Anything I can do? Any advice? I'm glad he can stay dry all day but I feel like he should be going in the potty when he needs to go...wdyt? Back off? Keep doing what i'm doing?

Actually this is awesome! He can hold it, which is critical for potty training! My oldest is still a camel ; ) but he use to do the same thing, hold it until nap or bed time and I would get frustrated too... my friends gave me this same advice and I relaized he is doing really well. He eventually asked to use the potty. Just continue to encourage him and try to relax and it will all come together.
