Potty Training

He won't do it...3 y/o is so stubborn! Help!

My older boy just turned 3 a couple weeks ago. He has pooped in the potty once, a long time ago and then outright refused. Now, we've been putting him in cloth training pants during the day and he keeps them dry all day. 8:30am til 1:30 today. We sat him on the potty numerous times including right before nap and he wouldn't go. So we put plastic training pants on and laid him in bed. He peed within 3 minutes. UGH! I was trying not to give him a diaper so he would tell me when he needed to go but that failed.

Anything I can do? Any advice? I'm glad he can stay dry all day but I feel like he should be going in the potty when he needs to go...wdyt? Back off? Keep doing what i'm doing?

  • Actually this is awesome! He can hold it, which is critical for potty training! My oldest is still a camel ; ) but he use to do the same thing, hold it until nap or bed time and I would get frustrated too... my friends gave me this same advice and I relaized he is doing really well. He eventually asked to use the potty. Just continue to encourage him and try to relax and it will all come together.
