What are the weirdest names you have ever heard?

I'm curious! I've heard some strange ones, but I'm sure there are many that I could never even imagine!

Ahaha, yeah. I've encountered/heard of some really bad ones before. The kind of names that you can't believe people are actually named.

    (What's your DD's name btw?)

  • I have a list of names of people that I have personally seen and verified (not a typo, not misspelled, pronunciation verified, etc).  It is well over 2500 names.  I've been "collecting" for about 10 years.  My favorite at the moment is a girl named Ayzzrhe'elle.  Pronounced "Azrael".  Named after the cat on The Smurfs (not the demon that the cat was named after).   FWIW, I have been assured that a La-a lives in my community and people who know I "collect" names keep telling me about her.  Until I can verify that she does indeed exist, she is NOT on my list (nor are lemonjello, orangello, chalmydia, vagina, etc).  Taqueria is, though.  Her mother pronounced it Tah KIR eee ah, not Talk er EEE ah, but did indeed name her after the "restaurant down the street".

  • lol oh my goodness! Seriously I just had my mind blown reading through these posts!

My high school teacher told me about a girl she had in her class when she taught for kindergarden who had the name Le-ah. She spent the year calling her Leah...One day her mom came in for conferences and they got to talking and she was like "Uh NO, it's Le dash uh. the dash is silent!"

All I could do was shake my head..lol.

Previous posters question about my daughters name: we are naming her Emery. I'm going to get a ton of crap about how I "got it from twilight" (even though I wasn't aware it was even a name on twilight until someone said something to me), It's a boy's name (mind you, Jordan/jordyn and Avery were all considered boys names at one point), and about how it sounds like an Emory board.

I've heard it all and she isn't even here yet. My response to the negativity is it's a good thing I'm not asking anyone else to name their kids the same thing. lol.

  • Every time I see a kid with a stupid name, or a "creative" spelling, I want to ask the parents if they hate their kid.  There's no reason in the world why you should give your kid a name you yourself wouldn't be proud to have.

I'm a college academic advisor.  I see lots and lots of totally ridiculous, inappropriate, and blatently stupid names and I always want to call up the parents and tell them it's their fault their kid grew up to be a tool.  Right now I have a 20 year old student named Tiger.  Do you know how weird it is to have a phone appointment with someone named Tiger?  "How're you doing today Tiger?"  Rawwr.  It's so stupid!  I laugh every single time I talk to this kid!

It's so funny to me that you posted this because I actually have a friend who just named her son tiger! To each is there own I guess, but it reminds me more of a pet name than anything, and I couldn't imagine being the poor kid in high school or middle school.
