We are 100% OOP for IF treatments which has obvi been a little stressful over the past few months (since we're saving for a home at the same time). DH made the comment that after this cycle if we're not pg, which I don't think I am since I'm 11dpo and got a BFN (yes yes flame me for POAS early but still, have zero symptoms), he wants to take a little time off for our bank accounts to recup. I agree, but what if we talk to our RE about doing a Clomid + TI without an IUI? DH only has borderline morph, everything else is good. She sounded against it when we first talked about it, but to save us $525......it seems like a no brainer. I don't mean to get ahead of myself, but it's just I responded so well to the Clomid that I can't imagine going on to injects right now (for $4k+). Why would my RE be against us doing a Clomid and TI cycle after this one, any thoughts? I'm also super pissed that I seem to be the only woman on the planet who didn't have 7dpo b/w....how do they know I even ovulated?? thanks in advance ladies....sorry having a rough morning.
Re: Need some opinions....
Personally I would ask my RE about doing the clomid + TI, if he thinks there could be a chance of a BFP with your husband?s morph.
I know it?s hard for us to sit back sometimes and wait it out, but if it?s going to be better for you financially sometimes we have to suck it up and just wait. Injectables are very expensive. DH and I are going to Femara and TI for the same reasons.
TTC Since March 2010
DX: Ovulation Disfunction DH:low volume, but good
3 clomid cycles (50MG - 150 MG): No Response
Femara (5MG) 2/2012: Weak ovulation BFN
Femara (5MG) 3/2012: BFP!!!!
For us, the difference between Clomid + TI and Clomid + IUI would only be $300 because that's the cost of the sperm wash and IUI procedure. (roughly $500 for TI monitoring only vs $800 for IUI for everything) $525 seems like a lot.
If YHs numbers really are stellar, then there's no harm in doing TI. Mostly motility and forward progression are what would matter most when deciding. If IUI gives you better odds, you may save yourself money in the long run by doing fewer cycles though.
Its really a personal decision that you and your doctor would need to be comfortable with. There's absolutely no reason to move to injects if you're responding well to Clomid. At the same time, usually after 3 failed cycles they change the protocol to be more aggressive. Usually you don't change the protocol to be less aggressive, which is what you want to do.
If you trigger with a mature follie, isn't it a given that you ovulated? I'm no expert. Good luck!
thanks for the info ladies - his morph was at 5, then 3, then 5 at last SA. but motility, numbers etc were great. i'm trying not to get too down, and thank you for the words of encouragement, it's just i don't feel anything. and i know, many people don't, but i just don't feel like this is it. i can't explain it, just a feeling. then again, i've gotten completely emotional after some u/s this cycle since i thought the IUI was going to be cancelled, and i ended up being completely wrong about that haha. i agree, if i responded well to clomid why go on injects? i'm sure it's something RE and i will have to discuss during another $350 for 15 minute discussion appt. I think that if an IUI doesn't work they should at least give you a follow up appt at no charge if you're paying OOP. I'm not sure if they trigger you if you are guaranteed to ovulate, at first that's what i thought but now i'm just confused since i see many women have 7dpo b/w to show a guarantee that they O'd and what their progesterone levels are. but thank you again for the info and words, it's appreciated. i'm heading to acupuncture tonight so hopefully it will allow me to relax a little.
TX: IUI #1-4 = BFN + 1 c/p
IUI #5: Clomid 100mg + Bravelle + Trigger + B2B IUIs + 800mg Progesterone = BFP!
