So as you can see in my siggy DH will be approaching the 3 month mark in February for being on Clomid. For those of you whose DH has been on Clomid, did it help? Does anyone know the statistics of it helping? I have this overwhelming feeling it won't....but it might just be from getting used to dissapointment after dissapointment the last 6 months since we found out. And after this month's IUI being the worst post wash numbers in the last 3 we have done..i'm kinda freaking out!

Re: MFI ladies please come in...
As someone who just had an IUI canceled because the only found two sperm, I totally feel your pain and anxiety!
I will say that there are meds that do help. While I pray that DH's almost no sperm this time is from the steroids he was on three months ago, prior to that here is what happened with his numbers...
Initial S/A: 19 million and 16% motility (And a follow up with a Uro were about the same). After just over three months on Fertility Blend for men his numbers were 38 million and 43% motility. After six months he had a count of 70 million.
So if meds can effect his sperm so well. And some can effect it so terribly bad. I believe, that doctors know which ones will help. I am trying to have faith that it will work again. My husband has not been on clomid, but in the over two years I've been on this board I have seem some MFI's see improvement on it. I wish YH the best of luck in upcoming S/A's to see if it's worked for you.

From what I know, Clomid sometimes helps if there is a hormone imbalance (testosterone). Since our main issue is morphology, MH hasn't even had his hormone levels tested. (Apparently morphology is unrelated to testosterone).
So, instead of looking at the numbers of the SA, the hormone levels should have been tested before and after. If/when the hormones return to normal, it will be ~3 months from then that you'd see a difference.
That's my understanding anyway.
Yes, my DH is seeing a Uro and do to his levels thats why he was put on it, but I know not everyone responds to meds. I really can't find the percentage of men who respond.
When I look for statistic, I use google scholar and read abstracts of studies. Sorry they're not clicky. First one shows effect on spermatogenesis was inconclusive. Second one shows tamoxifen (similar to Clomid) had increases in count but not motility. Third shows increases all around in boar sperm and pregnancies (better with 100mg than 50mg). Fourth shows that Clomid increased counts in rabbit sperm.

With the human studies, the men take Clomid for extended periods of time (5 months or more), so it seems like it takes longer than you'd expect to work. I didn't find any percentages as there hasn't really been enough research.
