This pregnancy has been pretty rough on me in regards to morning sickness. Although I wanted to go medicine free, I'm actually considering having my Dr. write a prescription for me.
It's just that I'm spending the majority of my day feeling awful, vomiting and not to mention I've lost around 7 pounds already.
I've read that typically morning sickness goes away or subsides around the 12 week mark.
But is that true of pregnancies with multiples?
I've also seen on this board someone mention that they were sick way into the second and third trimesters.
My hope is that this is not the norm.
So my question is... if you had morning sickness.. when did it let up for you?
Thanks!
Re: Morning Sickness
Around 16 weeks it started to get better and by 20 weeks it was gone already.
I took Zofran and I took half of the pill, I still felt nauseous but I wasn't throwing up.
If you can't stay hydrated, put on weight and can't eat well then it's more beneficial for your babies to take medicines. Zofran is classified as Class B I believe which I think is the safest class for pregnancy.
I took ~32mg of Zofran (had an rx for 8mg every 4 hours) a day and from 6-16 weeks that didn't cut it and I was out of work for weeks and in and out of the hospital for IV's. The only time I didn't feel horrible was while sleeping. From 16 weeks to when I delivered (32weeks) it mostly worked and I was able to wean down to 16-24mg with periods of breakthrough in the morning and late afternoon.
My best friend was sick and throwing up until after she delivered with a singleton so it really depends on the pregnancy.
I was extremely sick with both of my pregnancy and took Zofran with both. With my singleton, I wasn't able to wean myself off of Zofran until after 20 weeks. With the triplets, I wasn't able to go off of it until maybe around 24 weeks or so. Even after I was off of it, I still had bad moments and threw up.
It really depends on the person. If you are not gaining weight or staying hydrated, I would definitely talk to your doctor.
With my twins I was sick until 17 weeks, but I needed to stay on meds for the entire pregnancy, I'm now 16 weeks with a singleton and morning sickness is just starting to get a bit better now. Every pregnancy and every woman is different.
I ended up losing about 15 pounds with the twins and about 10 pounds so far this pregnancy.
With my singleton I was throwing up and lost 15lbs in the first tri, it slowly went away about 15wks. I took Zofran to keep me from throwing up, but it didn't make me feel much better.
With the twins I started on the meds right away and only puked once, took Zofran and Phenegran (a few times) and it went away about 16wks.
It's MISERABLE, but it WILL eventually stop! Hang in there!!!
