I am 30 weeks with di/di girls. Went in for a routine OB appointment this morning and mentioned that I've been feeling a little crampy at night. My doctor decided to check my cervix (ummmm OUCH!) and found that it is short and soft when it should be long and hard, obviously.
He decided at that point that there was no way I was allowed to go back to work (I am a teacher) and wanted to monitor me for a half hour. Turns out, I was having contractions the entire half hour. He sent me to triage for steroid shots for the girls' lung maturity.
I know I'm doing the best I can for the girls by resting right now (looks like I'll be a heck of a lot more active on The Bump) but I'm still really worried.
I guess I'm just looking for a few prayers or success stories from MoMs who have been in similar situations.
As always, thanks for your support, ladies!
Re: Worried
At my 27 wk appt at my MFM they checked my cervix and I had dilated from 3.8 to 1.8 in a 2 week period. They checked me for contractions and I was having them every 2-3 mins. I was admitted to L&D for steroids, magneium, fluids for 4 days. I've been home for 2 1/2 weeks on bedrest. I go weekly for NST and am on Procardia to keep the contractions at bay.
Every day you keep the babies in, is 1 less day they'll be in NICU. My OB and MFM's immediate goal is 32 weeks, and then if we make that then we'll aim for 34 weeks.
You are at 30 weeks which is good! My doctor wants me to make to at least 32. I don't have a cervix issue but my children are small for gestational age and I have Cholestasis (so another bag of issues basically). We want to get them over 3lbs a piece if possible. I have had two events where I was at my NST's and have had contractions (3 min apart), no cervix changes. I'm glad they sent you to get the steroid shots. Haven't had those yet.
Do what you have to do mama to keep those babies in a few more weeks!! My mom had my sister at exactly 28w due to an IC and she is 22 and completely fine (she was a feeder and grower in the NICU. My mom's water broke and they had to hold her in the trundle position for 48 hours to administer the steroid shots). I knew when I made it to 28 I had reached a great goal...
PS look at all of us twin momma's at 30 weeks having issues! At least we are not alone!!
This happened to me at 29 weeks and I was admitted for the weekend for PTL and was on mag sulfate (fun!). I was on bedrest for the remainder of my pregnancy and my babies made it to 35 2/7 weeks.
Hang in there!
