Jack is afraid of the dark!

This is going to sound so stupid, but I honestly believed that my little men were fearless when it came to the dark. We have a Twilight Turtle as a nightlight, but it goes off after a little while and then they're in the dark for the rest of the night (unless they turn on their seahorses themselves). Never have we had a problem with them being in the dark. In fact, they sleep better with all the lights off.

Fast forward to tonight. I think Ian has another ear infection. He's been screaming all afternoon. DH rocked him to sleep and gently eased him into his crib. But he kept waking up, like every 30 minutes. He was getting so rowdy that I took him out of the nursery so he wouldn't wake up Jack. But Jack woke up as SOON as Ian left. DH went in to calm Jack down and he was almost asleep until DH turned out the lights. Then he let out the most terrified scream we've ever heard.

Apparently he's only brave enough to face the dark when his brother is in the room. He also wouldn't go to sleep until he was certain Ian was OK and sleeping sounding in his crib. He was so upset that his brother wasn't feeling well. Just thought I'd share!

Re: Jack is afraid of the dark!

  • Aw poor things.  The only thing that saved us when Max started to become afraid of the dark where those old-school style nightlights.  They sell them for about $1 each at Target.  They have a switch on them instead of the sensor and for some reason they still use the old bulbs that are much, much brighter than the newer ones.  Once we got one of those, we had zero issues.  Good luck!
