Back to work and pumping...

Hi! I'm going back to work Thursday and am not permitted to bring my own mini fridge to store bottles and pump parts, darn. Does anyone have any advice on what to do / how to store? Our fridges at work are always so packed. I have a Medela PISA. TIA!

Re: Back to work and pumping...

  • For times I was not near my office I would bring 2 bottles, my shields and bags (I have a freestyle so have never pumped directly into bags.  After pumping I would transfer milk into a (lansinoh) bag then the shields into a cheap plastic bag (the kind that come w/ the twist ties) and put them all with the bottles in the medela cooler then into the community fridge which was generally packed.  I could fit a bunch of 5-6oz bags in the cooler around the shields and 2 bottles.  I never washed pump parts/bottles during the day which saves time.  GL

  • Do you have access to a freezer?  If so, here is what I do:

I have two coolers at work and I keep 4 ice packs at work.  Each day I get two frozen ice packs and put one in each cooler.  One cooler is for the bottles (I put the Medela cooler (with it's own ice pack) straight in here).  The other cooler is for the pump parts - I keep them in a tupperware container and keep them cool so I don't have to wash between each session.

  • I use the cooler and ice pack that came with my PISA. I keep the ice pack in my home fridge overnight and transfer it to the little cooler bag right before I go to work. It keeps the milk cold until I get home at the end of the day. I think the instruction manual for the PISA says the ice pack and cooler are good to use for maybe 10-12 hours? That way I can just keep that in my main pump bag with everything else and not worry about the work fridge.

  • Thanks ladies! So its ok to transfer the bottles in the cooler bag to my fridge when I get home at the end of the day?
