My 18 month old has RSV (respiratory virus), and I was reading that breastmilk might be able to help her fight the virus. She stopped eating breastmilk at 6 months, but I now have a 3-week old, who I am breastfeeding again. I would like to try giving the toddler milk, but heard that it is an acquired taste. I would hate to waste much, and she already has a lousy appetite. Does anyone know of the most palatable way to give a toddler milk? Should I have it warm? Cold? Mixed with cow milk? With food?
Re: Breastmilk for weaned toddler? Help!
Have you considered just letting her latch on? Worth a shot!
Otherwise I'd give it the way she drinks her regular milk and just try different things until she takes it.
My DS saw me putting away milk for dd and asked to try some. He said he remembered drinking mamas milk too. So I poured about an oz in a cup for him and he drank it and said 'this is baby's milk now'.
He didn't ask for it again til last week when he was sick with a bad cold and asked to nurse. I didnt let him because he is already regressing in several areas with having the new baby - potty training reversed and he wants a pacifier again. So I can just imagine that if he nursed again, it would be hard to get him to stop.
