My baby is eight months old today and I am struggling with the decision to wean pumping sessions during the work day. I would like to continue breastfeeding her exclusively when we are together (meaning no bottles, I would still give her solid food) but drop the pumping sessions while I am at work.
I am very anxious about this because I haven't even given her formula yet and worry that I will be depriving her once I stop providing breastmilk during the day.
Have any of you successfully continued breastfeeding on nights and weekends but dropped the pump?
Re: Weaning from the pump
I found that dropping pumping sessios didn't affect supply much.
So going from 4 sessions at (made up numbers here, because I don't remember the amounts) 6 oz (total) per session was fine...
then I dropped to 3 sessions and my body adjusted to make 8 oz (total) at each session
Then to to 2 sessions at 10 oz (total) per session...
So it didn't let me get rid of the pump, but it did mean I now only pump @ lunch time, no more frequent breaks.
