We have almost everything we need for the girls, but I'm overwhelmed by monitors. I've heard a lot about the angelcare monitors, and planned on getting those. Does anyone have this set that comes with two pads? I can't tell if you can use the two pads for 2 babies, or if I'd need 2 sets.
And does anyone have a video monitor to reccomend? I'm trying to figure out if there's one that we can get where we only need one camera to see both babies. Is it overkill to have the angelcare and a video monitor? Help please?
Re: Video or angelcare monitors or both?
there is nothing to be overwhelmed about. For the angelcare monitors, each baby will have to be in a separate bed with his/her own 'breathing pad' for it to work.
but I love my angelcare monitor. I don't have a video ( I thought it was overkill), but we live in such a small condo, so I just take a peek at my kids every 15-30min when they nap. If I had a house with the babies sleeping upstairs, I'd probably buy a video.
Yeah, the Angelcare with 2 pads is just to cover more of the crib. You'd need 2 sets. What we did is one movement/sound unit and one with movement only.
I thought video was overkill until they were about 7-8 months old, standing in the crib and having a baby party before going to sleep at night. We started using it then to see what they were doing and assess whether or not we should break up the party. When we finally hit rock bottom and did CIO (around 8-9 months), it was great to be able to see that the babies were nothing more than pissed off and that nobody was in dire need of anything.
We have a Loftek wireless IP security camera. Our cribs are along one wall and the way we have it mounted we can see both cribs because the camera has really good pan/tilt. It was about $75 and hooks into our router.
You can get an angelcare video monitor that covers everything that you want.

we LOVE the angelcare monitors... best thing ever - let us sleep without worry- even still, at this age, we'll know if they climb out, etc.
we got one of the more expensive ones, and one of the older ones... no need to have 2 of the expensive ones - since the parent monitor on the expensive one will pick up the sound of the cheaper one - you only need to use one parent unit at a time... but will need 2 sets for 2 cribs.
we never felt the need for a video monitor... the only time i wish i had one was when they were talking and doing something cute- i wish i could peek in without them seeing me... but i wasn't spending $$$ for that.
