Trouble TTC

Clomid Cycle 2

Happy Monday!

Just a quick question. This is my 2nd cycle on Clomid and I am currently on cd13. I know that the ovulation date can change from cycle to cycle (last cycle was cd14) so I'm not too worried about that. What I am wondering about is back at cd10 my OPKs started to show a second light line (not a +). Since then, my OPKs have gotten lighter and lighter and today only the control line shows up. I also had ewcm on cd9 and cd 11 but now I feel really dry. Has anyone experienced this while taking clomid?

Thanks! :)

Re: Clomid Cycle 2

  • Is your doctor monitoring you with ultrasounds to determine your follicle size and possible O?

  • No. I asked if he was going to monitor me when he first put me on clomid and he said there was no need. :S I'm really tempted to switch over to an RE but the closest one is 2.5 hours away.

You need to switch to an RE if you're going to be undergoing fertility treatments like Clomid.  I don't really have advice on the OPK piece as I'm monitored while on Clomid and don't use OPKs those cycles.

  • Hmmm, my guess is that you ovulated early, but it's hard to say if you're not being monitored. If your RE is too far away, I would recommend just telling your Dr. that you demand to be monitored. It's really dangerous to be on Clomid and not be monitored, your Dr. should know that!

  • I haven't taken clomid but just wanted to chime in and say that lots of us drive 2 hours or more to see our RE's.  They are really good about taking that into account. For example, my RE only has me come in for 1 u/s around O so he can see how I'm responding and give me an estimated O date. Then I have all my labs done locally and sent over to him.  So really I only have to make the drive 1-2 times a month. It's not so bad.

ETA_ my guess would be that either you missed your surge if you;re only testing once a day, or you had a weak ovulation and thats why it never got fully +.

  • I too am on my second clomid cycle and wasn't monitored this time around. My dosage was increased to 100mg this time and I finally got a positive opk, but it was very hard to see and the next one that afternoon was negative. DH and I are going to an RE tomorrow due to a referral for him from his urologist and I will probably switch to him next cycle.
