Update to squirmy baby...

So DD has been squirmy and pulling off the boob and actually REFUSED the boob the other day! That has NEVER happened! The boob has always been my hail mary when DD was crying and I couldn't calm her down any other way...then she REFUSES the boob?! So anyway, yesterday we are nursing before leaving for church and I was still having trouble with her unlatching constantly. Somehow she got in the position of sitting straight up in my lap with her coming straight on to my boob instead of the usual crossover/cradle hold. When she got in that position, she started drinking normally and didn't pull off the rest of the time.

But as of this morning we are still having trouble with her pulling her head back with my nip still in her mouth (ouch!). And when she pulls off my nipple, she will immediately open her mouth and root to get back on. I just don't understand why she's constantly pulling off. Any thoughts?

Re: Update to squirmy baby...

  • I was first going to suggest teething but she's sort of young for that.

Has she been to the dr recently?  I wonder if she has an ear infection that is making it uncomfortable to lay on one side.  I can't remember if that was suggested in your last post or not.
