Craaaap- candle burnt our bureau

I had girlfriends over last night and had candles burning everywhere to smell nice. One of the candles I had burning in the bedroom apparently burnt to the bottom. So it burnt the wood bureau it was sitting on. There is a burnt circle and unfortunately DH was in the room when I discovered it and is not happy.

 Ever had that happen? Any ideas on how to fix it? The only thing I can figure is sand it down and try to refinish that section. Whiiiine... 

 Eta: turns out Pottery Barn has a repair kit. I ordered that and I'll cross my fingers that it works. It seems to work ok on gouges, I'm hoping I can sand it a little and cover it with the marker.

    That stinks!  If the repair kit doesn't work, check Martha Stewart's website.  I think she has a bunch of stuff about repairing furniture, carpet, etc. when accidents happen.
