? about 3hr feed schedule with on demand at night.

Do you always feed at the same time during the day if you do on demand at night? I've just been feeding 3 hours after their last night bottle, but should I keep the same schedule during the day? So if they eat at 4:30am, give them their 6:00am bottle anyway to keep it 6, 9, 12...?

Babies are going on 4 months old, born 6 weeks premature. Thanks!

  • A simple answer to your question is yes.

The night time feedings are on demand, but the day should start at the same time every day, or you know, with in 15-30 minutes either way. Part of getting them to wean off the night time feedings to to make sure the day time is as routine and consistent as possible. It shouldn't really matter when their last bottle of the night was, sure, they may take a little less than they normally would at that first bottle. But they will make up for it somewhere along the way. My guess is, a couple of weeks of staying really consistent during the day and you'll start to notice them going longer between bottles at night. just my 2 cents though.

  • Yes!

Until they were 9 months old we consistenly did 6,9,12,3,6 during the day - sleeping from 7-6. Baby wakes up at 4 and gets a bottle, you try again at 6 even if they don't take the whole amount. We were never able to go to a 4 hour schedule.
