if you've ever done the trade-in event at BRU...

I want to trade in DD's old PNP, but it's missing the changing table part. Will they only accept trade-in's if all the parts are there? I think you get a 25% coupon for a purchase of something new? I don't even really know how it works

thanks

  • Double check with your local store but I believe you should still be able to trade it in. The fine print is that you can only use the 25% off coupon on certain items (PNP, crib, carseat, etc).

  • I can't imagine they wouldn't. The stuff gets thrown on a truck and carted off to be destroyed.

Really? We thought they'd sort it and donate usable stuff. That doesn't make me happy to hear they destroy it. We want to trade in DS basic PNP we used in the living room to get a high end one for DD to be in our room for the first couple of months. There isn't anything wrong the trade in one,In fact it's looks like new, we just would get as much selling it as we would as a trade in toward the new one. That's the only reason we wanted to use it as a trade-in.Sad

I was told that they recycle the material but that they don't donate them as they don't want damaged/recalled items to be donated and possible injure a child. I just thought they didn't donate them so they could sell more product.

  • They are destroyed (hopefully they recyle the material). I just traded in my 2 carseats yesterday and the salesperson told me they are sent to a warehouse and then sent to be destroyed. PNP's will not be accepted by Goodwill because they consider them to be a risk when they are used just like carseats, so I am guessing that is why BRU destroys them as well. So it will not matter that you don't have the changing table parts.

I sold my used PNP on Craigslist and one at a yard sale. Mine was missing the bars to use the bassinet part and they still sold. I didn't get a lot for them, but I just wanted them gone and knew I couldn't donate them. One was bought by a grandma that needed a place for her grandson to take naps when her daughter was visiting. She loved that it was in great condition and didn't cost as much as brand new.
