E has had her own room since day 1. She slept in our room until she was two weeks old and her snoring was so loud that we had to move her to the crib for nights. She was already taking her naps in the crib.
We are going to move E to her big girl room in March, after the mural is painted the end of Feb.
I think DS1 moved to his own room around 3 months.
We moved DS2 at 5.5 months. We were moving DS2 into the same room as DS1 and I was waiting for them both to be sleeping through the night again (illness, teething, etc had them both up), otherwise we probably would have moved him sooner.
Let me preface that with his crib was the same distance to our bed in the other room (door open for the first 8 months) then when he was in the pack n play in our room and he slept better in his crib than the pnp. Our condo had an odd configuration so it made sense to keep him in his room. If we were doing it in the house we are in now...he would be in our room for sure. Probably for the first 3 months.
Best advice my Mother ever gave me was to have them sleep in their crib from the beginning. So, since day 1 both kids have slept in their own rooms in their cribs. For the most part, I have two excellent sleepers too.
Not to say that they didn't come into my bed to nurse and sleep there for a few hours, but basically they have always slept in their own rooms.
We tried at 3 months, because she was noisy, but I missed her too much. So at four months we started having her start in her crib and move her to our room when we went to bed. Then we had her in her crib until she woke up, then brought her to our room. We just started her there all night now that she will be six months on Thursday.
