With DD#1, I was high and tightly closed on my EDD. 3 days later, I went into labor. Dilation and effacement doesn't really give an indication of WHEN you'll go into labor. Some women stay dilated at 3 or 4 for weeks; others are high and tightly closed in the morning and go into labor later that day. Ya never know! Good luck!
My mom was totally closed and not effaced at all in the morning, went into labor at 6 that night with my sister and still only had a 15 hour labor. It doesn't mean anything at all. I have a friend who went 10 days overdue and had been 3cm dilated since 37 weeks!

When my water broke, I was only 1cm and stayed like that for over 12 hours before they started pitocin. My SIL who's getting induced tomorrow is currently 80% effaced and has been 3-4cm dilated for about a week now.

This happened to me as well, i was totally suprised when I went into labor- i thought for sure i would need an induction. It is happening again to me this time around and it is still hard for me not to get bummed about it!

Being ridiculous today for me. I can't seem to reply to anything...and when I finally DO get through, it's duplicates my posts!
