I used to nanny for a family with 3 kids. Then my little princess grew up and went to full time pre-school. Crying So I went to back to the grind...hangin out in a cube. When I first found out I was pregnant I was worried I wouldn't remember everything, espcially the babys different cries. Well....I got a phone call yesterday from my mom who was watching my 1 yr old niece. All I could hear was my niece screaming bloody murder into the phone. My poor mother was crying, "I dont know what to do! she wont stop crying, her diaper is dry,she wont take her cup, Im rocking her....whats wrong" I know that cry!! its gas! I ran over with the infant gas drops... 15 minutes later, my niece is back to destroying the house and laughing. Ahhhh yes! Guess its like riding a bike, it all comes back.

This is hugely reassuring for me. I thought each baby had a different sounding cry, and the mom has to figure out what the cry means every time they have a new baby. (Totally ignorant FTM here.)

Yup. I am the only one who can calm my niece down when she gets out of hand (6 months.) I am SO glad I was a nanny for 3 years, makes being a FTM a little less intimidating.
