I haven't posted in a while. We have been on hiatus from the the bump. However, I am posting this to help others. We have MFI- unexplained. Until thursday!
My husband is in ICU in West Suffolk hospital in England. He was doing reserve duty when an episode of Shortness of breath came on. He went to the hospital. He is now - 4 days and 1 code blue later- dx'd with Hemochromatosis. He has had it since birth. He is now in COngestive heart failure, has a cardiac arrythmia and is critically ill. Basically his body does not eliminate IRON. It is deposited in the organs specifically the Liver, heart and pitutary (hence the IF) and joints.
I am with him in England..terrified of our future. Not knowing the length I will be away from the states. Terrified for the loss of my husband (this would be the second time as I was widowed once before)..
Please pray for us and know that this is another possible dx for infertilty. Treatment and cure is easy if it is caught before my husband caught his.
all my love.

Living After Losing
Thank you ladies. I need the prayers. So does my DH.
ETS..he is not intubated but was having a fib. They treated him with metoprolot and digoxin. They did not know his Ejection Fraction was 10. So the combination caused him to decompensate. BP was 50/- HR=30. He has recovered slowly from this. Last night he was in atrial flutter. Today, I literally watched him on the monitor convert to a sinus rhythm. (although not completely normal..more normal)...His organs are damaged. The UK National Health System is doing case studies on him.
the treatment will be slow "venous sections" which virtually means, blood donations. The only way to remove the iron is to remove blood and force the body to use more stores. It will take over 1 year to get his iron levels to normal with where he is. However, due to his low cardiac output, large volumes of blood can not be removed..it is a tight rope.
On a postive, his kidneys haven't been affected. most other organs have been. Especially the liver..which now lights up on CT scan like a christmas tree from all the iron. (Wonder how he made it through TSA all these years! JK)...
thank you for your prayers.
