Vitex is taken to mess with your hormones. It would be a horrible idea to take that without talking with your physician. If you don't need what it has to offer, you can actually end up making a problem where there was none (the same is true for soy).

Fertilitea contains Vitex and thus falls into the same category.

It is not in the newbie link because it is not suggest for anyone just starting out. Unless you have a history of issues with your reproductive tract or hormone issues (in which case you would already be aware that you need to speak with a doctor) there is zero reason to suspect you will have any issues.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that.  I have a history of PCOS (I was diagnosed at 18 after not having a period for 9 months) and have now been off the pill for ~75 days with no period in sight, after 7+ years of continuous use.  I'll have another appointment in a few weeks (once I hit 90 days) where I'll ask her about it, but I was just wondering what you ladies thought.

  • I take Vitex because it was recommended by my physician.  I have a history of low progesterone, long cycles and a really long/heavy AF.  The vitex has helped control the severity of AF, O sooner, and lengthen LP.  I would not take any type of vitamin/supplement without my doctor's knowledge.
