My husband and I have been speculating that we might be pregnant for a couple days, so I waited until he left for work today to take a pregnancy test. It says "pregnant". I'm REALLY excited, but he is VERY scared and nervous. How should I tell him? I'm going to wait until he gets off work this evening, so I have the day to decide. Please help!!
Re: How did you tell your husband/partner about your pregnancy?
We found out a few weeks before Christmas - I wrapped the test in a box and gave it to him.
I think it would be cute to do a scavenger hunt. Clues all around the house and maybe end in the room that will be the nursery with the test there and maybe something baby related (onesie, pacifier, etc)
I did the same a few days before Christmas.
We announced it to our families using the picture method. We'd get everyone a together for a picture and then DH said, "1, 2, 3, say K's pregnant!".
With #1 I put "I'm going to be a big brother" on shirts for my cats. They were not amused.
I thought about this last time I was thinking I was and I wanted to take a test so badly, but I just can't take it without DH there. IDK, call me old fashioned, but I like to find out with DH.
If you want a cute idea maybe cook some bread and when DH gets home keep saying "bun in the oven" before you take it out?
This one I had my daughter tell my husband "Baby in mommy's belly". If this is your first, that won't work! You can be cute. Maybe go find and "I love my Daddy" bib or something. Have fun with it! I bet you can find some good ideas if you do an internet search.
I have to admit that I love that I have a kid to do my telling for me this time. We are going to "tell" the family and friends with a picture of DD in a shirt that says "Big Sister 2012" and see how long it takes them to figure it out.
Congrats! With my first I had the whole day to plan and ended up cooking us a really nice meal...candles at the table, etc. Once he was calm from work and we were enjoying everything I gave him a Cubs onesie. He melted.
With the second we had been trying for over a year and I couldn't contain my excitment. I repeatedly called his cell/work phone over and over and over and over until he picked up and I just blurted it out!

With the first I ran out and told him "You're not sterile!!" (Inside joke that happened to be perfect)
With the last one (didn't work out), I had DS wear a "I'm going to be a big brother" shirt.
With this one I stared at him awkwardly until he guessed haha. I just couldn't say the words.
Two lines told me first thing in the morning. So I jumped back in bed pouncing on my husband. Started with my usually excited pitch "BABY..." Then he "YES we're preggie" LOL. He took the words right out of my mouth.
Once we started trying to conceive I asked my husband if he'd want it to be a surprise when I told him, he said "No, I want to be there when you're peeing on the stick". I did one of those Equate pregnancy tests and as soon as I saw the line for pregnant I called him in the bathroom like I couldn't believe it, I called him in, I needed reassurance and he said "You're pregnant" with a huge smile on his face and he hugged me and kissed me alot and asked me if I was okay. Now he tells me "I'm happy" at every chance he gets.
I don't know I guess its true that nothing can prepare you for that moment because I still didn't believe it even after 2 positive home pregnancy tests, it was not until I went to my OBGYN for reassurance and was told that I was already 5 1/2 weeks that reality set in! I couldn't believe it - I estimated around 2 - 4 weeks. Thank goodness I began taking the prenatals and DHA since we started trying to conceive.
Well, I did it. There was no grand gesture, I was really pretty worried about how he would react. So, I wrapped the test up as a gift and asked if he wanted to come home for lunch. So, he got there, and I pointed out the gift. He opened it and said, oh my god, is this for real? IS THIS REAL? He just kept asking and then he turned white and put the stick down, and rested his head in his hands and said he felt like he was going to throw up or pass out! Haha, He's doing much better now, he's excited! It's still kind of sinking in for both of us though! Thanks for sharing your stories and suggestions!
He was still in bed when I took the test. I smothered him with my stomach and yelled, "There's a baby on your head!"
