Has anyone done P90X?

DH and I are starting it next week. Have any of you tried it and had any success?

Re: Has anyone done P90X?

  • I have not done it, but a friend has and he looks incredible. I honestly think I would die if I tried it. Plus, our house is really old and I think it would fall down with all that jumping around. Good luck!!!

  • I have done it off and on. It's intense!!!
  • I haven't done P90x, but I do the Insanity workouts (both by the same company). I L.O.V.E. it! If one is anything like the other, its super tough, makes you wanna puke and you drip in sweat... but I totally see results. I have muscle in places I never did before haha! Definitely recommend it!

  • I did it twice back to back before I got pregnant. It is pretty intense but so worth it. I said I'd go back to it after the baby but apparently I'm great at making up all kinds of excuses not to.

  • I have not but I know people who have. They said it was hard and you really had to be motivated, but they saw amazing results!

I really wish I had the determination to do something like that! Good luck :)

  • I haven't personally done it.. well, I did one day of it, but the pain in my perineum was really intense.. (bad tear) so I switched to more post natal focused exercises. My sister are doing it right now, I think they are on day 22 and my eldest sister has already dropped 14 lbs and 6 inches!! (She is eating only lean proteins, healthy carbs and raw vegetables)

  • My husband and I did it 2 years ago and it worked awesome.  We actually just started it back up Saturday.  It is super intense and requires 60-90minutes a night and you have to take it super seriously if you want it to truly work.  That is what I am worried about this time.  Sometimes by the time we get both kids to bed it is past 8pm and I really don't want to start a 90 minute work out much later than 8!

  • Please just listen to your body and don't over do it. I see so many injuries when people start such an intense program.
  • I did the exercises and not the diet.

Honestly, it definitely made me shape up a bit (and I didn't finish-- had my gallbladder out halfway through, when that healed we got married and I got preg)

but the 60-90 min AFTER work SUCKED BAD. I can't even imagine trying to do it with LO.

I'm interested in the insanity workouts, but I don't know how long those go.

  • I did it two summers ago and really liked it.  I should point out though that I did a modified version of the program though - more cardio/calorie burning and less of the strength training.  I did see results, when I did it I lost about 10 lbs.  Even after the initial program I continued doing Kenpo (kick boxing), yoga, and legs because I liked the results I got with those workouts.  I really need to get back to doing some of them.  I actually really REALLY liked the Kenpo workout.  It was great for relieving stress from the work day!

My husband has been doing it for a few years and he swears by it.  He does the muscle building program, whereas I did the lean program.  He's a small guy naturally though.  After doing it so long he doesn't feel like he still gets the same results, so we've since bought an exercise bike so he can get added cardio with that or the treadmill.
