Multiples

For MoM's, is this normal?

My entire stomach is hard, but I am not noticing it relaxing and tightening, it is just hard.  It is also very sore across my lower abdomen (worse at times), but I am not sure if it is just due to babies growing/stretching, or BH/contractions.  Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

  • I hope so because I have also been experiencing this! The hardening is BH contractions unless they are painful and come at regular intervals. Do some research about how to get them to stop (change position, drink lots of fluids etc.) My lower abdomen pain I usually attribute to growing and stretching or constipation, depending on the day. Isn't the third trimester fun?!

  • It could be that the bambinos backs/bottoms are towards your belly and that is what you are feeling. But, if it kind of feels hard and like your belly has expanded and not softening again after a while then maybe you are contracting a lot without really knowing it.  Look up the symptoms of PTL and follow what to do in order for contractions to slow/stop and if they don't after an hour you might want to call your doctor.

  • ps  I would say from my own personal exerience (and a lot of books I've read + what a lot of other MoM's have said) that BH get a lot more frequent with multiples especially the further along you get. But the thign to be careful of is that with that much baby in your belly it's a lot harder to feel the little contractions, which all can cause PTL, without a lot of pain (beginning PTL is usually pretty painless).  I had pretty frequent BH contractions from early on, but never any constant hardness that didn't soften again after about 45 seconds.
