HI everyone! I have never posted here before but thought maybe someone here could help me understand. I know once the protein in your urine hits 300 with high bp its pre-e. However, after my first ob appt I got a call saying it was 180 which they said anything over 150 is elevated and they would be watching it but wanted me to know it was a sign of the beginning. So everything I have researched said it starts after twenty weeks which left me super confused. Any insight into this would be very much appreciated!
TIA!!
Re: How early did you show signs of pre-e?
Hi,
I started showing signs at 28 weeks and my protein was 180. He took me out of work and put me on weekly 24 hour urine collections. By the time I delivered, less than 5 weeks later, it was just under 6,000. There is more to pre-e than just the protein so be on the look out for swelling, bp, and visual changes. Good luck with everything and if it does progress seriosly do everything your doctor and or perinatologist says.

I started showing signs of pre-e at 32 weeks (high BP, protein in urine and large amounts in weight gain in short amounts of time). My doctor told me that was early to be showing signs but I'm not sure why because you can be diagnosed anytime after 20 weeks. I wasn't officially diagnosed until a little after 33 weeks. I did a 24 hour urine catch and it came back around 250 and the doctor who diagnosed me said they don't like anything over 150. After that I got put on bed rest and was set for induction.
These things can be different for everybody. I would say do your research but ultimately your doctor knows what is best. I hope you can avoid the pre-e diagnosis! Good luck!
With my son I started swelling around 26-27 weeks. It didn't get bad until I hit 29 weeks. I went in for my dr apt and left going to L&D. I delievered my son at 30 weeks.
With this pregnancy my BP have been great. Sometimes they are a little higher (130/80 ish) but come back down. We havn't broken the 140/90 threshhold yet, thankfully. I did have a +1 protein in my urine at my 8 week apt. I was told with my history and the BP and Urine I had that day I would be put on hospital bedrest at 24 weeks.

I was diagnosed with Pre-E at 25 weeks but started showing sigsn of it at 18 weeks (insane swelling, headaches that won't go away, felt drunk, gaining 8lbs in 3 days). I was in the process of switching to a doctor that wasn't an asshat and am pretty sure if I had made the switch a month earlier, it would have been caught much sooner and would have been able to get closer to my due date before delivering.
