What is your occupation?

I am a Firefighter/Paramedic. But on leave because of my pregnancy and am a SAHM mom now. Not sure when/if I will go back. I sure miss it though..

Do you like it?

I loved my job, and I love being a SAHM.

What is your DH's occupation?

DH is a Auto Body Tech. Mainly custom paint jobs, But does a little of everything.

Do you hope your future/present LO's follow in your or DH's footsteps?

I personally want my DS and future LO to do what makes them happy, But would not be unhappy if they chose my career path or DH's. My brother is a Pediatric Neurosurgeon and I feel like he pushes the medical field on his children. I won't do that to mine even though I know the benefits of it.

What is your occupation?

i'm an executive admin to 3 Financial Planners. keeps me busy, but doens't pay all that well as my bosses are all independant sales guys who pay me (verses my pay coming from the company)

Do you like it?

I really like it, but would really like to be at least a part time SAHM someday.

What is your DH's occupation?

DH is rather bored at the moment, but he works in Grants management for the State. he was a youth probation officer before that though.

Do you hope your future/present LO's follow in your or DH's footsteps?

i want LO to do whatever they want to do. would love for them to get their school in first, but if they want to go to trades school that's ok too.

Do you like it?

I do... it's a job that I'm truly passionate about and I know that I am good at. It's a wonderful way to spend my days. )

What is your DH's occupation?

DH is an actuary for Nationwide Insurance.

Do you hope your future/present LO's follow in your or DH's footsteps?

Not really... I am proud that we're both college grads (and both paid our way through on our own), so while I don't have a preference as to what profession our child chooses, I do hope that they have the strength of character to know what they want to do, to be passionate about it, and to have the strength to keep themselves on the right path.

I love it. I love working with LO's and lesson planning. I love the families that attend my school and my co teachers are awesome.

What is your DH's occupation?

He runs an online publication for the AHA.

Do you hope your future/present LO's follow in your or DH's footsteps?

No. I would be surprised if we had a LO who did not choose a career path that had something to do with writing or letters since we both love it but I would still be thrilled with anything that makes him or her happy.

I am a high school math teacher. It works well and I do like most aspects of my job but it has its downfalls like everything.

DH is a paramedic and he likes his work but not the schedule. He is currently in school for computer programming. He is hoping to still work in EMS just to keep up their computers and be home nights and weekends.

As for my children I hope they do whatever their heart desires.

I love it, even though lately I'm not very good at it. Morning sickness all day=not getting too much done. I feel a bit guilty.

Ssgt in the Air Force, he works in weapons.

Do you hope your future/present LO's follow in your or DH's footsteps?
I don't know what to say either way. I would be proud of my child if they did, but it's hard enough for me to deal with him deploying, I don't know if I could deal with my child deploying or being put at any sort of risk like he goes through all the time.

I just graduated with degrees in Real Estate, Risk Management and Insurance, and and General Management. I did a small internship with a risk management firm before my DF and I decided it was best for everyone if I became a SAHM.

Do you like it?

I absolutely loved my internship and I am hoping that I can go back into the risk management field once both of my kids are in school.

What is your DH's occupation?

My DF works for a lifeboat/offshore services company as a lifeboat technician. The company is just starting out in the states, based out of Norway, and he is gone a lot but the money is amazing and he loves being able to travel all over the world for free.

Do you hope your future/present LO's follow in your or DH's footsteps?

I also just want my kids to be find a career that makes them happy. If I could choose who they follow as far as in life in general, I would want them to be more like my DF. He is such a well rounded person and is pretty much a jack of all trades, socially and works wise. I love it!

I am a Systems Analyst for a large corporation.

Do you like it?

I love my job most days, but I would give it up in a second to be a SAHM, but that is just not an option..

What is your DH's occupation?

DH is a Regional Sales Manager and travels 1 - 2 weeks a month.

Do you hope your future/present LO's follow in your or DH's footsteps?

I hope LO does what makes him/her happy. I want them to go to College and get a good education but I don't care if they follow in either one of our footsteps.

I teach at-risk middle school students.

Do you like it?

Yes. It's stressful, but involves no lesson planning, just a lot running around.

What is your DH's occupation?

He is a professional photographer. He has his own business and works as an Assistant Photographer at Kohl's, headquartered here in Milwaukee.

Do you hope your future/present LO's follow in your or DH's footsteps?

LO can do whatever he/she can dream of....as long as a college education is a part of the plan I'm sure DH will teach LO photography early on.

What is your occupation?

I am in my second year of psychiatry residency for the US Navy (active duty).

Do you like it?

I LOVE MY JOB!!!!!!!! The people I work with are awesome, and the patients are so fun. I could not imagine doing anything else.

What is your DH's occupation?

DH is an electrical engineer working currently in road sensors. He helps develop, install, and trouble shoot the sensors embedded in roads at toll booths, weight stations, etc.

Do you hope your future/present LO's follow in your or DH's footsteps?

Like everyone else, I really just want our kid to be happy, but I truly hope he/she fully lives up to his/her potential whatever that may be. I also I hope that we are able to help our child learn to work hard and appreciate what can be earned through hard work. DH and I both put ourselves through college (and med school for me) through various means because we had goals in mind and wanted to reach them on our own. Hopefully we can pass that on.

I want my kids to be happy but, at the end of the day, I'd really like them to follow in DH's footsteps - to get a degree in something that can lead to gainful employment.

What is your occupation?

By degrees and before all our moves I was a Crime Intelligence Analyst. Now I'm a SAHW soon to be SAHM.

Do you like it?

I liked my job, it was pretty interesting. I like staying at home, it does get boring sometimes though.

What is your DH's occupation?

DH is an Officer in the US Navy, active duty.

Mostly I want our children to be happy. DH and I would though like our children to follow in our footsteps though and go to college and even get graduate degrees like we did. We plan on starting LO's college fund right away.

Some days are better than others. Overall, I like the patients I work with, sometimes co-workers drive me crazy.

I want my children to do whatever makes them happy and successful. I wouldn't mind if they went into the medical field like me, or became a cop like dh....or anything else they found interest in.

I was a 9-1-1 dispatcher for eight years before leaving in November to SAH with DD. The plan was for me to go back to school in June for surgical technology, but that's been postponed due to the pregnancy. Now I'll SAH until school starts in June 2013.

Do you like it?

I loved my job, but not the agency I worked at. I LOVE SAH, but some days miss working.

What is your DH's occupation?

DH is a police officer.

Do you hope your future/present LO's follow in your or DH's footsteps?

I've seen too many awful things in law enforcement to wish it on my children, but if it's what makes them happy, we'll support them wholeheartedly.

He's an engineer. To be honest, I don't understand half of the stuff he does.

Only so far as they work hard in school and get a good education. What they choose to pursue is up to them. There are so many great jobs out there, I want them to pick one that will make them happy for their whole career.

Generally yes, although there are days that I wish I had just been a yoga instructor. I work with a very difficult population and there are days when I feel emotionally overwhelmed.

I don't care what they choose to do. We both strongly encourage college, but as long as they are happy and "successful," I could care less. By successful, I mean independent, strong, people.

I love being a SAHM, and I'd rather not go back to work...ever.

DH is a pipeline operator for Conoco/phillips (big oil), in his 33 years he's been that, a US Marine, and a State Trooper.

I will support my children in whatever they decide to pursue. DS has already shown interest in the USMC, but then again he's only 3. I would be very proud if he became a Marine some day.

What is your occupation?I am a customer service associate that handles resident relations for a large apartment community. Do you like it?I liked it at first. But it is stressful. Residents are mean and no matter how nice you are it is always your fault. lol We recently had a management change and the new manager and I do not see eye to eye on a lot of things. I can't wait to quit. What is your DH's occupation?He is in law enforcement, but he is about to go back into the military full time. I am a sales coordinator and assistant at a downtown hotel. I sell and organize wedding room blocks, coordinate all corporate groups, manage business travelers, and I am an assistant to two mangers.

Do you like it?

Not at all. I feel like I get everything dumped on my plate that no one else wants to do. I am the newest assistant/ coordinator in the office (been here 1 1/2 years) and have the most to do with the least pay. One of the other assistants sits at her desk making personal calls and reading books on the internet all day but gets more credit than I do.

My DH works in a shipping warehouse. He runs power equipment in receiving products from all over the world.

I would hope that our child has a bit of us both. I will hope that our LO goes to school like I did and gets a degree. Besides that I hope that they go for that they really enjoy. I was pressured into the Hospitality field by my mother and I can't get being a teacher or a camp director out of my head. It is my real passion and I didn't follow my heart. Now I will always regret it unless I can figure out how to go back to school.

I want my kids to do what makes them happy. Of course I would love it if LO's took education as seriously as DH and I did, but I know you can make a really great life for yourself without a college degree, especially if you take up a skilled trade. I just want my LO to be happy in his/her career and be successful in whatever they do.

Institutional Investment Consultant - I work for a firm that advises large institutions like pension funds and endowments on their investments.

Do you like it?

Yes, it's not super rewarding or my lifelong dream, but I like my firm, coworkers, and lifestyle.

Equity analyst - he picks stocks for an investment fund (can you tell we met at work? A couple of jobs ago for both of us

DH's parents were in the Peace Corps and didn't value money at all, so I feel like he rebelled against that a bit with his job. My parents were very focused on me having a job where I could support myself well. I feel like our kids will swing the pendulum back the other way and becomes artists or something like that, which would be totally fine with me as long as they are happy.

Do you like it?

Yes, I have enjoyed my job. But I think I will like the new job even more since that's the field I ultimately wanted to be in.

Research Scientist for a small start-up company. We met in school - good thing our outside interests match up b/c our work interests are pretty different.

Both DH and I value education and have Masters degrees. So I would like our children to also value education. Beyond that, I don't care what they do so long as it makes them happy and they can provide for themselves and their future families. After all, not everyone finds insurance as fascinating as I do. :-)
