any "natural" prescription prenatals?

When I was TTC, pregnant and nursing I took naturemade prenatals or rainbow light prenatals. However we accidentally put too much money in our FSA b/c we were told something we get regularly wasn't covered by insurance but now of course it is. so now we have all this FSA money we will likely not even get close to spending. you can use FSA for vitamins but only if they are prescribed and filled at the pharmacy. Are there any prenatals via prescription that don't have all the crap in them that most vitamins do?? THANKS!

  • I'm not sure about the vitamins, but is there anything else you could use the money for? Maybe acupuncture or therapeutic massage?

yes acupuncture is on the list. chiropractor is too. will definitely look into massage, I go to someone for massage regularly and she calls herself a holistic practitioner, maybe that will qualify? not sure!

  • I get my prenatals (still taking b/c of nursing) from vitamedmd.com. My OB had to write a prescription for it, so it should work for the FSA. For $30/month (free shipping) I get a month's supply of prenatals - one "regular" prenatal vitamin and one DHA vitamin for each day. I don't have the box in front of me (baby is nursing at the moment, so I am stuck in the chair...lol), but I do know that they are vegan. I've been taking these for quite some time (since March 2010) and I've never felt ill after taking them...I know that seems to be a common issue with some prenatals.

  • You can have your physician write a prescription for anything- including the prenatals you used to take- so it will be covered by the fsa.  I was prescribed extra vitamin d and magnesium, which are readily available over the counter, and asked them to write a script so I could get them covered. You can do the same with tylenol, etc.  And, breast pumps are covered by your fsa if you are planning to breastfeed.  So you could use the extra money for that.

This is what I get - I think everything is their own brand:
