Hey girls,
I usually am on the 3rd Tri board, but I figured you ladies could maybe answer this one for me. I'm preparing everything I need for when DS is born (march 11). I want to BF but also pump. Since I'm planning on primarily BFing and only pumping like before I go somewhere without baby, I was just going to buy a cheap manual pump. I was looking at the options in the store and DH thinks I need a double electric. He doubts a single manual will work well and thinks I will get sick of pumping it myself. We think this will be our last child, so I didn't want to go out and spend a bunch on a pump that wont get used very much.
Anyone have any suggestions as to which is a good pump, reasonably priced?
Oh, and I've also been looking a little on Ebay, but I'm not sure a pump is something to buy used...
Re: So Many Choices...
If you are going to be a SAH mom and EBF, I think a single pump is a reasonable choice. A manual would be a lot of work, and you can't do anything else while you use a manual pump. If you have a hands free bra, you can set up an electric pump and play with baby or surf the internet while you're pumping. Check to see if your hospital gives out manual pumps as well. I got one for free, and keep it as a backup to my electric.
If you do buy a used pump, make sure it is a closed system. I believe the Ameda Purely Yours is a closed system. The popular Medela Pump in Style Advanced is NOT a closed system, and should only be used by one person.
No specific recommendations, as I have a double electric (medela PISA). I love it, but I also work full time and use it at least 3 times per day.
Congrats on your little one!
