OB had put me on bedrest for a couple of weeks after I had had more issues with high BP, and some urine in my protein. Plan was for meto rest, he upped my BP meds, and had me continue monitoring my BP at home. I was still running in the 140's/95's pretty consistently at home, with a few readings in the 150's and even one in the 160's. DH was convinced I wasn't returning to work before this baby came. So, I go to my appt yesterday, hoping for a good outcome. Urine was good, no protein (yay)! But, I had a bad headache and BP was running 170/102! Nurse took it a couple of times, and it remained there. So, she had me lie down on my left side. It came down to 140/95, but doc was still concerned. He did an NST, and all seemed well with baby. He decided to admit me to L&D overnight to monitor my BP, run labs, and do a urine catch. He didn't want to wait til mon to get labs back, so he went ahead and admitted me. It was ds's 5th bday yesterday.Luckily, by this time we had done most of the celebrating. But, I still felt horrible. I'm missing his little party this afternoon, but he's so excited about everything, I know he is ok! I just have major mommy guilt! Of course, lying down on my L & R side consistently here at the hospital has really brought my bp down (and I'm sure the now even higher dose of meds helps too). It does go up a bit if I lay on my back or with activity, but doc is happy with what he has seen.labs were good and we will have the results of the urine test tonight. It isn't Pre e, but definite chronic HTN running amuck. He put me on bedrest til I deliver, and did talk seriously about inducing as soon as 35 weks if my bp doesn't stay down. If we can keep it under control then I can go until I go into labor. Baby looks great! Downside is I just got off the phone with my boss. Dropped the bomb that I won't be back prior to delivering. Heck, I work in a school, and if all goes ok I prob will take the rest of the school year off and return in aug, but we will cross that bridge when we get their. I have horrible guilt about this too, like I did something to bring this on myself. I just feel so so bad about the whole no work and bedrest thing. I am 100% doing what is right for baby, but I just feel so much guilt!! I'm sorry this is long, I'm lying in the hospital bed posting from my blackberry. I felt you girls would understand!! I was put on modified bed rest at 33 weeks because of protein in my urine. It's been doing it's job because the bp at my last appointment was awesome. I do have a 24 hour catch to do for Monday and am hoping my numbers will be better. I know how you feel about having to tell the bosses that you're leaving earlier than expected. Don't beat yourself up over it. Enjoy the rest, knowing that you're doing what's best for baby. I know I am.
I think most of us completely understand.
I just got put on bed rest (3rd day) and I'm already going crazy. I was telling me SO and sister-in-law that I feel bad that I'm not doing anything and that I'm playing hookie from work. They keep reminding me that this is what will keep myself and the baby healthy. My sister-in-law (who has 2 children) told me to think of it as a vacation to get ready for the baby. That helped a little bit.
