Trouble TTC

Anyone go to a SIRM clinic? XP

Anyone have any experience with this practice? I have one in my city, and it is pretty close to me.  While I 1000000% trust and have faith in my RE, I was thinking about maybe requesting a consult with them.

I'm intrigued by 2 things: their MICRO-IVF (hoping I don't need to go there, but I'd rather be prepared) and their "Access Plan" which gives teachers/first responders a discounted package price.  Or does anyone know that the price is for that package?  I'd be curious to see if my RE's office would honor that price?

Thanks ladies!

Re: Anyone go to a SIRM clinic? XP

  • I actually have one near me.I may check it out since my insurance does not cover IVF & this would be a lot cheaper (micro-IVF) & I was looking for a 2nd opinion anyways. I hope someone has experience with them.

  • Kdg I have one too in my area too (if I remember correctly, we are from the same area so it's probably the same SIRM). I am going to them for my IVF.

They are clearly a big operation, but I like my IVF nurse a ton. I've had several friends go through the SIRM in the area and they all got good results. I think it's kind of hit or miss on the nurses though. I got a really good one, but one of my friends didn't.

Hmmm, that is VERY different than my current practice!  1RE, 2 u/s techs, and 3 nurses whom I like all of.

What do you think of Dr. A?  I've heard very mixed reviews on him.  Or do you see Dr. W?

ETA:  Do you mind sharing pricing with me?  You cna PM if you'd raher!

  • Hi KDG.  I went to the SIRM clinic near you.  I'm not sure that the RE there does Micro-IVF (at least not often).  There IVF pricing wasn't terrible.  I didn't get the discount.  But, they do have multi-cycle plans which are nice.  We started out with a 2-cycle package.  But, their prices may have changed from when I got it.  It was around $15,000 and included ICSI.  All meds and anesthesia and a few other items were not included.  All of my u/s and b/w went through my insurance, but were covered.

As you know, after my first two failed cycles, I went to your RE for a second opinion.

Please let me know if you have any specific questions.  I will try to help!

  • Edit to my post above....  I tried adding this to it, but it kept giving me an error.

ETA - In case you get responses from people in different areas, each of the SIRMs are very different.  There are some things that are the same.  But, most of the protocols, plans, medicines used, etc. vary by RE.

Also, when I first started there, I saw Dr. A at every visit (that was the case for my first 2 IVF cycles).  That isn't the case any more.  He has an u/s tech that comes in and does u/s on some days.  If you are going to have an u/s when she is there, you will see here and not Dr. A.  Also, this clinic does not do blood draws.  You are sent to Labcorp or Quest.
