Who's not crawling still?

DD has no interest. I know you aren't supposed to compare but humor me! :)

Re: Who's not crawling still?

  • DS is not either, he rolls, he's gotten really good at rolling in the direction he wants to go. I don't think he has any interest either. He's pulling up a lot and trying to go from his belly to sitting up, he's trying really hard. I never crawled I started walking at 10 months, so we'll see.

  • LO is crawling but he isn't very efficient at it so he gets frustrated after a few "steps" then he'll either scream and flail or pull himself along with his arms.  He'd much rather hold onto our hands and walk.  He has started to cruise a bit.  Thankfully he hasn't tried to pull himself up on furniture yet.  When that happens I think we're in trouble.
  • hang in there, it will happen *just like that*

LO was flailing, arms flapping, legs kicking, frustrated just last week.

3 days ago, flopping forward with his legs

    2 days ago, army crawl

last night...crawling & off he goes! crazy.

    we haven't even baby proofed!

  • Mason's not crawling either. Part of me wants him to, the other part is happy he's not yet because that will be a whole other adventure in itself!

  • I've got you all beat... 9 months this week and not even thinking about it!

H is all concerned, thinking he needs to see the doctor.

I am enjoying every single second of him being immobile, because I know the second he can move himself, it will never end.

  • Mine is only sliding around on his belly and using his arms to move.  He gets on his hands and knees and rocks but he won't move the arms and the knees at the same time.  He just flops back down onto his belly and starts sliding with this arms.

  • 10 months tomorrow and doing everything possible NOT to crawl. They get up on all fours and rock, but they launch themselves forward and begin the process again and again to get where they want to go rather than crawl. Or, they army crawl on their forearms. Or they roll around. They're highly mobile and finding any possible way to move except the way we want them to. So frustrating! And our pedi won't discuss it with us because they were preemies and they're still not delayed based on adjusted age. Grrrr!

  • I still maintain that I don't think our LO knows yet that he has knees.  No getting up on his knees... no rocking back & forth.  Definitely no crawling.  A lot of spinning in circles, and the occasional pulling himself forward with his hands, if he can find anything firm enough that will hold while he pulls (blanket on the floor, my arm, etc...).

He does a lot of arm and leg flailing, with good vocals that are clearly supposed to be threatening toward the the dog... but so far not much movement :-)

  • Over 9 months here and nothing that indicates she will ever crawl. She rolls a lot, but not to get from place to place. She wants to stand (assisted by me or furniture) all the time, and has started taking assisted steps. I'm still betting that she's going to be one of those babies who skips crawling altogether. I'm sure if she does that she'll come back to it later, but for now, the higher the better. Even when she's standing on her feet she tries to climb up onto my legs if I'm sitting on the floor so she can be that much higher. DH is an Alpine mountain climber - I think she gets it from him ;-)

I think that they consider the army crawl to be crawling. There are various crawl styles, other than up on all fours. As long as they are getting where they want to go it counts.

  • Army crawl, but not on all fours yet. I'm afraid. Lots of rocking and swimming. Oh, how I love the swimming! She pulled herself to kneeling the other day and I was immediately demading DH lower the crib.

Haha - I don't think DD realizes she has knees either. When she does manage to get up on them, she face plants and gets PISSED!

  • My DS isn't yet either. He will go from a sitting position to up on his hands and knees and then launch himself forward which then lands him on his belly which he hates so he flips over and then tries to get himself back into a sitting position by doing weird looking sit up maneuvers. Honestly, I am content with him not moving yet either. It makes my life a bit easier for the time being.

  • DS sits and turns in circles, leans forward and rocks, but still no crawling. Once he does, it will likely be from a sitting position and not a laying position, he has never been a big roller.

  • We are at 9.5 months (born April 10th) and he doesnt even get on his knees and rock yet.  Pedi is not concerned as of yesterday's appointment.
  • I wouldn't worry AT ALL (which I know is hard!).  Seriously, once they are on the move, life changes in big ways, so enjoy your immobile baby for a little while longer :)

  • LOL, "still"?

DS didn't crawl on all fours until he was almost 11 months old.  He army-crawled for months prior and was perfectly content getting around that way.  He was just a laid-back, content little guy.

DD has been scooting herself, forward, backward, and in circles, LOL.  You can tell she really wants to crawl but just doesn't have it figured out yet.  She's also trying to pull up.  I have a friend at work whose DD never crawled- pulled up first, started cruising and then walked at 10 months old.  You never know!  They're all different.

  • 9 months at the end of this week and still not crawling as of this moment.  LO rolls and stands but no crawling.  Perhaps LO will skip crawling altogether and go straight to walking.
