2 yo kicking crying at night

DS1 has been waking up at night kicking, crying. Some nights he goes back to sleep easily, others will do this on and off for a few hours. He was sick but has been well the past few days. DS2 was also born about a month ago. Do you think this is related or is he having nightmares? Any suggestions to help him sleep better? DH has been sleeping with him as well and doesn't seem to help.

    My 2yo does the same thing. But he has never been a good sleeper. He wakes every night around midnight, crying, kicking, hysterical. Nine times out of ten, the only way to calm him down is to let him come sleep in our bed. He seems to be terrified, but calms down immediately when he comes to our room.
