Long Island Babies

Furniture Suggestions

Hello!

We are getting ready to order furniture for our little man due in March.  Any recommendations on stores or brands?  We have looked at Babies R Us, Buy Buy Baby and were also thinking of going to Bellini.  Would love any advice or suggestions you may have.

 Thanks so much!

Re: Furniture Suggestions

  • We bought ours at Buy Buy Baby so that is my only personal experience. Have you gone to the store? There online selection is nothing compared to what they actually have. We bought the Baby Appleseed Davenport crib and the combo dresser from the collection. They had it in the store to see. This is the link to the furniture at its actual website.

I love his crib! It is so sturdy and made very well. I also picked it because we were having a boy and I just feel like it had a masculine look to it. Buy Buy Baby got it in earlier than expected, which is a plus, and had no problem keeping it there until we were ready to get it. We paid for delivery and isntallation. It was only around 100 bucks I believe. For us it was worth it because we didn't have anything big enough to transport it in and it was kinda nice having everything put together properly. They had me inspect everything before leaving. That is obviously a personal choice though, just figured it would be helpful to know that if you did need to do that they had great customer service. Another note on Buy Buy Baby, you are able to use the 20% Buy Buy Baby coupons on furniture. They will not let you use the Bed Bath and Beyond coupons on furniture but save your Buy Buy Baby ones for that! 20% is a big savings on furniture since they are more expensive items!

I didn't use Babies R Us simply because I didn't find what I wanted there, so I can not speak about them. I have had a few friends who bought from Behr's Furniture and it was a nightmare for all of them. The furniture sometimes didn't come in for months after the baby was even born when it was promised much before then and peices broke off.

Another note on the crib we bought, we recently converted it to the toddler bed and it is perfect and looks so adorable! It was also super easy to do.

Hope this helps :) Have fun shopping!

  • Hi-we have our furniture from Bellini. Absolutely gorgeous furniture and extremely well made. It has held up really well over the last 2 years. The huntington store is great!

  • I LOVED Bellini, but it was way out of our price range.  I went to Behr's in Massapequa and had a wonderful experience.

I got a great deal MLK weekend last year (President's day coming up they will probably have a great sale), if you ordered during the sale you could cancel at any time for a FULL refund of your deposit, and you could schedule delivery at any point within a year I think.

Set up and delivery was on-time and wonderful.  We are very happy with our furniture.

  • We had a deposit at Bellini, but ended up buying at Behr's. All of the Bellini furniture is made in China, although they advertise their brand as Italian. I LOVED their changing pad/table, and the furniture itself was nice. If we had kept our deposit at Bellini, I personally would have ordered a Young America (USA -made, green guard) Crib to match the set.

We ended up at Behr's with Romina furniture. Although our initial experience there was good, do NOT place your order until you go home and check other prices in the tristate area. Figure out exactly what you like, and then spend a day on the internet researching prices and calling stores who carry the furniture you like. Then, either buy online, over the phone, or bring your pricing with you to Behr's to negotiate.

I feel Behr's is a mini-monopoly on Long Island because they are the only ones around who carry the nicer lines of baby furniture. GOOD LUCK!!
