I've been thinking about you and your LO with the daycare switch.  How is it going?  Is the transition going any easier?

  • I've been wondering as well.  I hope he's starting to adjust and you're feeling better about the daycare.

  • Aw thanks for thinking of us, you mamas are too sweet :) It was a hard week. I picked him up in tears again Thursday afternoon after Will left him that morning upset. We're on the fence on what we should do.

We decided to contact his original sitter, but her health is still declining and she's cutting out one of her days so she's unable to take him back (along with a few incidents, the main reason we decided to switch was she hadn't been feeling well and has been really undependable lately).

We're going to both spend more time with Liam at the new sitter's this week. I'll go spend my lunch hour to help him feel safe. I feel like if he's still upset to go there after two weeks, then it may be more than him just adjusting. Ugh, I just hate this.

Thanks so much again for your thoughts!

  • Spending time there seems like a great idea!  Not only will it help Liam feel comfortable, but it will give you a chance to really see what is going on there and feel more comfortable (or not) with your decision.

I worked as an infant teacher for 5 years before switching to preschool and 8-12 months is one of the toughest times to transition an infant into childcare because they are so much more aware and separation anxiety tends to kick in.  I'm sorry it's been so hard!  I hope it gets better for all of you quickly.  Good luck.

Thanks so much. That's definitely good to hear from someone with so much experience.

  • Hang in there, Momma!!
