OB/GYN in King of Prussia area

Hi all,

First time mommy and I live in KOP. My PCP referrerd me to Penn Women's Health at Radnor, but I don't want to deliver at UPenn hospitals in the city - I am looking to deliver at one of the Main Line Health hospitals (Bryn Mawr, Lankenau, Paoli) and was wondering if anyone has recommendations for any OBs in the area that deliver there.

I saw there is a Main Line Women's Health care - any feedback on the doctors there?

And I also read about Dr. McConnell's practice either here or somewhere else so have that down on my list to check out...

Any input would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks in advance.

  • I actually switched from Penn to Main Line--I live in KOP but go to Paoli because that is where I wanted to deliver and my SIL recommended that particular office.  So far I have like the doctors for the most part; one time I went there because I was having some severe pain in my right side that was not round ligament pain and I felt kind of like Dr. Gilbert rushed me through the appointment and blew off this and other concerns I had, but they were extremely busy at the time and it did end up going away on its own.

Other than that I have been happy with them.  The perinatologists have all been great so far as well.

  • I saw Dr Castelli for my miscarriage, and he was really helpful. By shear chance his partner Dr. Hirshman handled my unplanned C-section ( I was at the birth center). They have a practice in Bryn Mawr and KOP. Good luck.

  • I got to Main Line OBGYN - they have offices in Strafford, Paoli (in hospital) and Collegeville. I regularly see Dr. Kakarla who I love and Dr. Bussard delivered my DD. I've met all of them (8 total) and they are all nice. Office staff/nurses have been great too.

  • I go to Main Line Women's Health in Rosemont but they have two other offices in Paoli and in Plymouth Meeting.  I've been going to the Rosemont office for at least 13 years.  I have really liked all the doctors I have met there.  They deliver at Bryn Mawr and work with the other Main Line Health hospitals as far as perinatal testing, ultrasounds, etc.  I have had to use the on-call service several times for my miscarriage and for this pregnancy and have found the doctors to be prompt in calling back and caring.   I also have found the nurse practitioners to be a great resource in the practice as well.  The office staff is usually very friendly but can seem a little stressed/short on the phone.  It depends on who you get and I try not to take it personal.  Feel free to PM me about any specific doctors in the practice.

The above are both my doctors. I have always preferred Hirshman over Castelli- however Castelli is a wonderful doctor as well- he just has a very different bedside manner.

  • Dr. Bailey at Lakenau is a great doctor.  Lankenau also has two rooms that have jacuzzi tubs...Bryn Mawr and Paoli don't.  Good luck!
