Trouble TTC

hope for IUI before cd 10?

for ladies who have had iui, do you even allow yourself to hope for it before cd10?

we had an appt. yesterday and it became clear to me that it could still be cancelled.

we had three months of no-go before even getting to this point (day three of femara, cd4).

i think it would be better if i could have a positive attitude, but how do i do that without setting myself up for a big let down again?

any suggestions/coping strategies welcome!

Re: hope for IUI before cd 10?

  • I don't, but I'm not done with meds by then.  (I take meds CD 5-11) and then do monitoring.  My IUIs will be around CD13/14.

Is there a reason you need/want it done by CD 10?

  • I am taking meds still at cd10.  Usually I have my IUI between cd13 & cd15.  Why do you want it to be before cd10?

  • I'm a little confused by your question, so I'll answer the two questions I think you could be asking..

    1.  I doubt I'd ever have an IUI before CD10.  I got my +OPK on CD10 last cycle and had my IUI on CD11 though.  Medicated cycles have caused me to O much earlier.

    2.  As soon as I get over the heartbreak on CD1, I always let myself have hope.  The resilience of my sense of hope is one thing that carries me from cycle to cycle.  CD1 is going to hurt regardless of how much I hope for a different result during the cycle.  I prefer to live the days between CD1s with as much hope as I can.

    HTH.  GL!

  • On my first 3 femara iuis I was ready to trigger on cd 10 and iui cd 12. You really don't want it before cd 10- even if the eggs are big enough, they'd possibly be too immature.

  • oops, my writing was unclear.

what i meant was since you don't know what the results of the meds are before cd 10, do you even let yourself hope that the iui will occur on cd 11-15 (whatever).

i am worried about getting my hopes about even having the iui and then getting it cancelled when i go in for cd10 u/s and bw.

i do appreciate the info about not wanting an insemination that early. you ladies always have my back!

  • Easier said than done, but try not to worry about it getting canceled. Hopefully if they thought there would be a chance of that they would change your meds.
