Hello ladies-
Im new here on the bump. DH (28) and I (25) have been TTC since Jan 2011. I have PCOS and probable endometriosis. I have been charting for over a year and have long, irregular cycles with short luteal phase. Recently I saw the fertility specialist at my PCP and OB/GYN's office because I couldn't deal with all of the pain from the endo anymore and either needed to go back into treatment for that or get help getting pg. He prescribed clomid, 50 mg taken days 3-7. U/S day 13 showed 1 possible follie about 13.5mm. He suggested I use OPK and if -, come back on day 23 for bloodwork to check progesterone levels. This week, I took the OPK with first morning urine as directions said (although Im now reading that this is not the best time...). I got 1 line every time except on Wednesday when there were 2, but the other one was still more faint.
...is it possible that i did get the LH surge and it was too diluted to appear first thing in the AM. I do drink A LOT of water...and, if it is possible should I still go Monday for the bloodwork? I think that would be too soon to confirm an O right?
Any help is appreciated ![]()
Re: Newbie + intro
Thanks! I guess I'm just overthinking this
I'll be a good patient and do as the doctor says...
I should also mention, though, that I stopped charting this month because my doc said it was not a helpful diagnostic tool and too cumbersome. I guess im just starting to question his knowledge and judgement...he also flat out denied that the Clomid made me dizzy/lightheaded. It said right on the bottle that this was a possible side effect and I'm now seeing that all over the place from other women too!
I am seeing an OBGYN...no RE within less than a 3 hour drive from here. Thank you for your input on the endo. I have not had an HSG, because my doctor felt we should treat the obvious problem (no O) first. Once we know Im Oing, we will go from there. I didn't want to do the lap because my family members' experiences were that it really didn't help them anyway. And, knowing that it can grow back, i really wasn't sure if it'd be worth it. I also tend to be pretty conservative with medical procedures and only want to do what is absolutely necessary. Until now, the endo was quite under.control with BCPs and it wasn't a problem until i stopped them last January. I certainly will talk more with my doc at my next appt!
I know that is a LONG drive, but I would really consider it. Oing won't do you a darn bit of good if your tubes are blocked....hence the need for an HSG.
Without a lap you'll never know for sure if you have Endo...and your family's experience doesn't have anything to do with you. The endo can be cleared enough to give you a shot at a pregnancy....even if it grows back eventaully. You can't take BCPs if you want to get pregnant (unless taking them before an IVF cycle).
Clearly I am aware that you cannot take BCPs if you are trying to get pregnant. My point was that I hadn't done the lap previously because I had been able to control the endo by using BCPs. So, procedure not necessary. Now I am off BCPs and have been for a year and the pain got to the point where I decided I either needed to go back on BCPs and put off trying for awhile or get help getting pg. Obviously we chose the latter.
Also, incidentally, I am also aware that O does no good with blocked tubes. However, I do not see the point of going through a procedure when there is no indication that there is an issue. If we are able to get me ovulating and we still are not successful, then we will look for other reasons. For now, I'd like to tackle the known issues before we go looking for other possibile problems.
