DD has RSV and has to have breathing treatments every 4 hours. She hates it and fights it like mad. We've tried favorite books and tv shows, but they don't distract her one bit. Any tips?
I would always feed my daughter m&ms or another special treat through the mask. Then I tell her she would have to let me hold it on to get another one. And, if that's doesnt work, rest assured that it actually works better if they are screaming because they breathe deeper thus getting in more medicine.
Try to plan it around her sleep schedule and see if you can do as many as possible while she's sleeping. When DD got older (like, last week LOL) we switched to the hand held one. It goes over much better than the one that has to be strapped on. It's definitely a two person job. Usually I hold her and some for of entertainment (favorite toy, snack, hand held video) and another person holds the nebulizer and the mask. That way we can kind of move around.
All that said, I'd still rather go to work naked than do those damn treatments. It's just gotten harder as she's gotten older, so I feel your pain.
Are you nursing? We do it while nursing and that works great or i just chase him around with it and spray it towards his face while he plays. Good luck!
