I am delivering at St. Clair Hospital and didn't know if they supply breast pumps to use while you are there? I received my breast pump at my shower - but it comes with a bottle that it empties into that I don't have any others to match. I didn't know if I should pack all my nuk bottles (just in case my LO doesn't latch), or if they have a pump and bottles I could use during my stay. If anyone knows, TIA!!!

Re: St Clair Hospital Breast Pumps?
In taking the Breastfeeding class at St. Clair, I doubt that the nurses will encourage you to pump at the hospital. They said that if you are breastfeeding to wait to pump until 1 month. While you are in the hospital you'll only produce colostrum and not breast milk and you'll want to give your best effort to breastfeed more than three days.
I don't have an answer about pumps at that hospital but wanted to let you know that I have a Medela BP which most bottles fit onto. Evenflo, playtex, avent, and medela all fit onto the breast pump. Might be good to check if yours is the same way (i don't know what kind you have) and that way maybe you can just pick up a few extra bottles to bring with you?
I stumbled here by accident...
They do. I don't know that they will give it to you on a normal in and out in 3 days situation. If the baby is latching ok and everything, but the consaultant was very nice and helpful.
my son was VERY jaundice. Since the only way to pass the bilirubins is through urination we HAD to make sure he was eating. He had to take about 3 oz of formula while we were there. I would nurse and then give him the formula to make sure he was getting fluids, he took only about an oz of the formula at a time. (they supplied the formula bottles) They gave me a bump to use and advice to use it and how much to help get my milk to come in faster for him while we were there. (4 1/2 days for him and 6 nights total for me...)
