My grandmother (follow up to my FF Thursday C)

My grandmother passed away last night and I was able to be with her.

Canceling our trip, which seems completely trivial now, was the best decision. I would have been boarding the plane and cannot imagine having to either walk away from the trip at that moment or enjoying myself at all should we would have went.

She was 92, had dementia, and struggled for the last few years. Seeing her in her last few moments was agonizing but we were all at peace as soon as it was over.

So sorry. My grandmother passed away last may and had Alzheimer's for years. It was hard to grieve because we felt like we had been grieving for all that time. We were relieved she was finally at peace. I'm glad you made the right decision and were able to be there. And I hope you can reschedule your trip soon

I am glad you were with her, as hard as that must have been. I know how easy it is to get caught up in "the details" of it all when it comes to vacationing, etc. Now your vacation will have a separate set of memories as well. Sorry for your loss.
