DD hates to sleep on her back!

I've resorted to having her sleep on my chest on the glider/sofa or in a bouncer/swing as possible. Seems only DH can get her to sleep in her bassinet. Anyone else having this problem? I am scared of co-sleeping and I've tried waiting 20 minutes after she falls asleep before putting her in her bassinet but it still doesn't work.

  • I hope you get a lot of answers because mine is the same way, and I have always been terrified of sids.

  • Mine is still this way. I think some of it has to do with reflux. Hope someone has some good suggestions.

This.  DD was the same way until we found out that she had acid reflux.  She started taking Zantac and is a changed baby.  GL!

  • It's not uncommon for newborns to want to be held to sleep. They prefer our warmth and being able to smell us and hear out heart beat. If LO screams and arches her back when you lay her down, then I would suspect reflux and talk to the pedi about it.

  • I am having the same issue but it's finally getting better.  Last night DS2 slept for two 2.5 hour stretches in his bassinet.  I feed him, then swaddle him, and rock him until he is in a pretty deep sleep then put him down in the bassinet.  Each night I get a little bit of longer stretches in the bassinet.
  • She doesn't scream, just grumbles and cries some. I don't think she has reflux but I'll watch her closer tonight!

  • Have you tried a Rock 'n Play? It allows baby to sleep at an incline rather than just flat on their back. She may like this better? We have had good success with it (and it's fairly inexpensive...I think I paid 40 at Target).
