Target brand formula

Anyone use the Target brand formula?  I compared it in the store and it is exactly the same as Similac Advance (which is what we gave DS).  I am getting ready to wean from the pump during the day and just nurse in the morning and at night.  I would like to go cheaper if I can on the formula.

Re: Target brand formula

  • We've used it with both girls and have zero complaints. I did the math and it is half the cost per/oz of Similac or Enfamil, definitely saves us a ton of money!

  • I used target brand instead of Enfamil A.R. It worked out just fine. There is a difference, 'though. The powder is more yellow, and tends to get chunks. The consistency is different, too. My LO didn't seem to mind. No problems eating it, no problems with digestion either.

  • We use it and like it a lot.  It is so significantly less expensive that I wanted to at least give it a try!

  • We use the Target Up&Up Gentle and have not had any problems with it.

We use the enfamil knockoff from Target. No problems here.

  • We used it and it made my son terribly constipated.  If you read the reviews it's a big complaint about the Up&Up formulas.

There is always a difference between the brands of formula even if it doesn't look like there is.  The nutritional values are generally the same, but their binding agents are usually different.  Also Up&Up uses palm olein oil which a lot of literature says is the cause of the constipation.  Many brands of formula no longer contain palm olein oil for that reason.

That said every baby is different so you never know how your child will react to something.  The only way to figure it out is to try it.

  • We use it and it didn't make him anymore constipated than the Enfamil gentle did...and I found that it mixed easier for me (The enfamil was ALWAYS lumpy)

I was going to say this exact same thing. We tried the up and up sensitive and it was AWFUL- blood curdling scream, rock hard poop awful. We would all be in tears when he tried to poop. I realized the reviews after we tried it and wish I would have read them first.

  • We switched about 2 weeks ago.  It has made her BM's harder, but not constipated.

  • My daughter is 75% bm and 25% formula. We use Target brand and haven't had an issue at all. I'm really impressed with it.

  • We started Lydia on Enfamil, but swtiched her to Target brand at about 4 months with no issues. Only thing.... It doesn't make her constipated.... It's the opposite! She poos out of her diaper ALL.THE.TIME.
  • I switched over to the Target brand more than a month ago with no issues.  I had previously been using Enfamil and this has the same consistency as enfamil when mixed (the consistency of the Similac - very foamy - was the one turn off of that for me...and Costco's brand seems very similar in that regard).  LO's daycare also uses Up and Up and warned me when I switched that some of the babies had constipation problems with it...but we did not have that problem.
