Check-In

I know I'm not the only one spending my friday evening on TB.

Who else is around/What's everybody up to?

I tried to get Hubbs in the mood for some loving, but now I'm bumpin and planning a wedding. Contemplating pouring myself a glass of wine.

I love that show!  Bucketlisted to go to one of the places he features.  Too bad I live in BFE and I'm no where close to anything cool to that.  ::sigh::

  • I've been busy on the interwebz tonight and trying to clean my house in between.

I've been lurk-bumping, pinterst-ing and facebooking. I've also been arguing with people about animal things, but that's a whole 'nother long story (but, if you feel bored and want to sign a petition, please see this petition to sign the petition - the animals can't speak for themselves!).

I'm having a girls night tomorrow, so I'm trying to clean the house when I can between slow times web surfin', but my house is still a disaster. My friends will just have to remember I have a 12 week old.

I'd like to ask DH to watch DD while I clean, but he's having his 'man-time' playing his computer games (he gets to because I get girls night tomorrow). Fair trade I suppose.

I signed the petition...that's disgusting.  I remember hearing the news story a few days ago.  And hello neighbor!  What part of MN are you in?

Another fan of the office?  Love the cats names :)

  • I just got back from dinner with FI and LO. FI is going to bed and I'm feeding DS his last bottle for the night and bumpin!

Dpeugh, your wedding is looking fabulous!

Us too, we had to stop watching it right before bedtime b/c we were always getting up and making snacks.  Your DS is so cute...a fellow chunky monkey!

I'm still waiting to see a pic of your date.

  • I'm already in bed getting ready to go to sleep. I have to work this weekend so that sucks, but I can't complain since I only work 4 hrs a day. DH is at work and won't be home til the morning so i got DD all to myself tonight.

First of all, thank you SO much for signing the petition - and actually, this is a totally different dog. The one that made the news was Putz the Pitbull, and Duke is a Shepard/Dane mix who still shouldn't have been euthanized. I did contact Kare11 & Fox 9  but neither have gotten back to me.

    S/O Kare11/Fox 9, I'm over by St. Paul. :)

And yes, HUGE Office fan! I'm glad you noticed the cat names and figured out where they were from! And what is so awesome about it, is that they ALL act like the real characters. Jim is casual cool, Dwight is dorky & dumb, and Andy is still pretty new, but he's just sort of silly, weird and trying to fit in. I love my little Dunder Mifflin kitties.

  • I'm home alone with DS and the dogs watching four weddings and trying to plan my own.  FI is on a business trip for the next week, so I'm also contemplating what I'm going to do to fill my time.  Not going to lie, I'm feelin a bit low.  We just moved to a new town 3 months ago and we have no friends or family here. So FI being gone makes me a bit lonely. (sorry for the mini vent)
  • Just say down after dinner. Bath and nursing. A big beer in my hand and soon to have some ice cream! Ready for bed but want to spend some time with my lover:)

Mini-vent: I'm actually super jealous of your beer! That's the ONE thing that DH is super afraid of, is me drinking a drop of any alcohol while EBF. Sigh, I know that I could pump 'n dump, but I just really really really want some wine or some beer. I'm being nice though, and respecting his wishes to not drink. /end mini-vent

Maybe YH just needs to be educated on it.

Current research says that occasional use of alcohol (1-2 drinks) does not appear to be harmful to the nursing baby.

The American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Drugs classifies alcohol (ethanol) as a ?Maternal Medication Usually Compatible With Breastfeeding.? The American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Breastfeeding notes: "Breastfeeding mothers should avoid the use of alcoholic beverages, because alcohol is concentrated in breast milk and its use can inhibit milk production. An occasional celebratory single, small alcoholic drink is acceptable, but breastfeeding should be avoided for 2 hours after the drink." Many experts recommend against drinking more than 1-2 drinks per week. Per Hale (2008), "mothers who ingest alcohol in moderate amounts can generally return to breastfeeding as soon as they feel neurologically normal." There is no need to pump & dump milk after drinking alcohol, other than for mom's comfort -- pumping & dumping does not speed the elimination of alcohol from the milk. Alcohol does not increase milk production, and has been shown to inhibit let-down and decrease milk production (see below). If you're away from your baby, try to pump as often as baby usually nurses (this is to maintain milk supply, not because of the alcohol). At the very least, pump or hand express whenever you feel uncomfortably full - this will help you to avoid plugged ducts and mastitis.

In general, if you are sober enough to drive, you are sober enough to breastfeed. Less than 2% of the alcohol consumed by the mother reaches her blood and milk. Alcohol peaks in mom's blood and milk approximately 1/2-1 hour after drinking (but there is considerable variation from person to person, depending upon how much food was eaten in the same time period, mom's body weight and percentage of body fat, etc.). Alcohol does not accumulate in breastmilk, but leaves the milk as it leaves the blood; so when your blood alcohol levels are back down, so are your milk alcohol levels.

Always keep in mind the baby's age when considering the effect of alcohol. A newborn has a very immature liver, so minute amounts of alcohol would be more of a burden. Up until around 3 months of age, infants detoxify alcohol at around half the rate of an adult. An older baby or toddler can metabolize the alcohol more quickly.

  • Trying to be happy and not think about going back to work next week.  I brought the baby to my grandmother's today (and my dad went too-he is going to watch my daughter while I am at work) and I broke down about it.  Feel bad because I don't want my dad to think I don't trust him.  But I am on Facebook and the Bump, husband is sleeping on the couch and daughter in a bouncy seat.  Wish they were up  to keep me company.

I signed the petition, good luck with it.

  • I actually went over to a friend's house tonight and had some grown up time, and a few grown up drinks haha. Of course, I ended up leaving at 10:45 because I was tired, and the thought of getting up with LO at 7:30 after staying up late and drinking is just terrible.

I am now in pajamas with an almost sleeping baby bumping it up.

Oh yea, living the life :)

  • I don't know what I would do without my glass of wine! Ds will not stop crying. He has been inconsolable for hours... He just fell asleep in my arms.finally. I think he's having a growth spurt.. Hope he's in better spirits tomorrow bc my parents are suppose to watch him while dh and I go out. But anyways yeah we've been tending to our screaming child all night. Had been hoping for some cuddle time on the couch and catching up on DVr... Guess that will have to wait till next Friday night :(

Ooh girl! That's the one thing I look forward to. I'm not a drunk but a cold beer at the end of the day makes the my world a better place. And you tell YH that you squeezed a baby out of your vigina! You deserve the world!

I'm no drunk either, but it's like I'm pregnant again and having cravings - I need wine!!

Oh, and he'll just say I cheated, because DD came via c-section. Because 40 weeks of pregnancy and having contractions for 3 days before they decided to cut her out isn't hard work at all ::eyeroll:: Stupid man.
