I was posting in infertility but I am not sure if its where I "fit". So a quick little bio for those who dont frequent that board. My husband and I are 25 we've been married for 5 years this march (together almost 7 years) and we went 5 years of NTNP with one miscarriage before we were married. Last year we started trying but I had suspensions that something wasn't right. All my blood tests came back fine and so was my hubbys seman analysis. It wasn't till my OB did an ultra sound when she found 2 small chocolate cysts and 1 large one inside my ovaries. I got a lap done 1/16/12 and today I went in for my post op. She said my tubes were clear (they did an HSG during my lap), she burned some mild (stage 1-2) endo, and removed the largest cyst. So we are going to try for a 2012 baby and if it doesnt happen by april then we are holding off till we move out of state!
So my question is..
I was given a few samples from my DR which include: Obtrex DHA, vitaMed md, Neevo DHA, Concept DHA, Duet DHA Balanced, and Nestabs DHA. My step mom says she used Flintstones original vitamins bc most made her sick. Have you taken any of these listed, if so what were your experience with it? Or have you taken any OTC prenatal vitamins that you liked?
Thanks :-)
Re: quick bio and a prenatal vitamin question
I just take the cheap prenatals from Walmart (Spring Valley). Most OBs don't care what prenatal you're on unless there is something special about you and your pregnancy.
A lot of pregnant women who have trouble with pills, either in general or because of the pregnancy, take the Vitafusion gummies. Theyre more expensive, so I don't. Although I did hear that the Target generic of them are still really tasty.
Good luck!
I choked down Prima Care 1 vitamins throughout my pregnancy, which I think are really good ones, which I needed because I do not eat well AT ALL! (I did try much harder when I got pregnant.) I didn't have any problem taking them until I got pregnant, because they were big and I just had a bad gag reflex then.
When I heard they had gummies, I was VERY excited, but the problem is that they don't have the iron or calcium.

Welcome to the board! The women and men on here are amazing for support and information. We are a family even though we have never met each other.
I was on Prenate Elite for 3 years before my co-pay sky rocketed. Now I get Target brand prenatals. You get 100 pills for $9/$10. My RE said that he doesn't care what I am on as long as I am on some kind of prenatal.
Welcome and sorry you need to be here. I hope your stay is short. In terms of PNV, my RE (the first one and this one) said take one. Neither cared whether it was gummy or hard, small or large. For a while I took the One a Day PNVs, but you have to take 2 pills. My RE then recommended Thera Natal which has to be mail ordered. Its $19.99 for a 90 supply. It has significantly higher amounts of D3 and folic acid than any other PNV I've seen. The pills are sort large, but not huge. No fishy taste or smell. In fact, they smell like vanilla.
B,
I work with NeevoDHA. NeevoDHA is a prenatal indicated for women with the MTHFR polymorphism. Women with this mutation (up to 40% of the population) have a limited ability to break down synthetic folic acid (the type found in enriched foods and most prenatals). This puts them at risk for folate deficiency related pregnancy complications. If you read a lot of message boards, you will find that a very large percentage of women with repeat pregnancy loss have the mutation. NeevoDHA contains active L-methylfolate, already broken down. This bypasses the MTHFR polymorphism. L-methylfolate is 7 times more bioavailable than folic acid. NeevoDHA is also know to be very well-tolerated. I just wanted to clarify that it is a different type of prenatal with a completely different kind of folate.
Best of luck trying to conceive and I hope you will have a healthy, happy pregnancy in 2010!
