How are you doing your kick counts? In the past month or 2 my placenta has moved to being anterior, so I'm already fairly nervous with that big drop in feeling movement, and I know they have less room now on top of that. because of my cholestasis my Dr wants me to keep a close track to feel LO kick about 5 times a day and to immediately go to the ER if I dont. Ive already been once and he was moving like crazy! My question is-- are you still having trouble feeling the kicks?? Are there any tricks (besides oj and cold water) to make them kcik harder for peace of mind? TIA!
Re: q for ladies w anterior placenta!
My LO doesn't seem to have any trouble kicking me through it, especially in the ribs. I know sometimes DH will put his ear on my tummy and tap on it and she almost always kicks in response. Also, if I'm laying down and flip sides she tends to wiggle around for a few minutes like she has to reposition too.
I have an anterior placenta...but still have been able to feel him move. He mostly kicks on one side, though:) Sometimes deep breathing will make him move. I'll take a really slow breath and then let it out really slowly and generally it works.
Side note, don't do this in public...people tend to think your going into labor:) I did it when I was bored at Best Buy w/ my husband..just to entertain myself and immediately a sales person came over to make sure I was okay and offer me water.
I have anterior placenta and I've never felt tons of movement. It has picked up lately but not the volume a lot of ladies talk about on here. I had decreased movement on Sunday and Monday but it was crazy moving Tuesday and Wednesday. Dr yelled at me for not calling sooner since I now have this possible pre-e issue. Dr told me today just to eat and lay down and pay attention to movement. No real tricks! But nurse in L&D did ask me to add sugar to my OJ this morning to prompt more movement. Load that baby up with sugar apparently!
I used to be able to get the kicks going by laying on my back, but now it's too uncomfortable. Now I tend to get a lot of movement in the car when the radio is on. My doctor said to try the OJ/laying down thing and also advocated poking LO.
I don't really feel kicks at all anymore. It's mostly slower, harder movements like rolls, shift, and pokes. I used to feel a ton of movement because some little baby part was stuck up in my right ribs, but she shifted it out earlier this week and my anterior placenta is more of a barrier again. Now I feel most movement completely off to my right side and very low down. Maybe if you could figure out how LO was positioned and ballpark where your placenta is, you could encourage him to wiggle where you can feel it easier?
