Hi ladies....I apologize for just jumping back on the board after not being around for a while...after our third loss on Christmas eve just this last year (2011) DH and I decided we were going to take break from TTC for a few months...that turned into a break for 2 years. I started going to school for something else and will graduate in 2 yrs, we want to save $ to put down on a house in 2 years..allow DH to make *some* career changes withing that time......that is my "long break" disclaimer...I needed an emotional and physical break and it just turned out we agree'd lets hammer some personal things out and try again when we acheive these few things...hardest decision of my life but I know its the right one..
ANYWAY (just wanted to explain my self so I didnt seem SUPER selfish just coming to post asking about HSG's)
I had mine yesterday...while on the table the dr asked the nurse to inject nearly double the amount of dye (not sure why) but the nurse mentioned she felt "pressure" while injecting it (this was right when I started to cramp nearly half way through). after...I heard the doctor under his breath say "septum.." to the nurse but not to me. he left and the nurse then said that my tubes were clear but that my uterus wasnt shaped normal and that my doctor will speak with me about the results and probably schedule an MRI...
I am totally lost here....if your HSG results werent "normal" would you mind sharing what it turned out to be? not sure if this matters but my mom has a bicornate uterus and 1 kidney and had all three of use premature....but had kids none the less.
any advice/info would be appreciated...thanks ladies!! xo
Re: 3Ter on a long break with a ? about your HSG results (and mine)..
I'm not sure but I'd maybe get in touch with your RE and set up and SHG (a saline test used to look at the uterus)
GOOD LUCK
I have no idea about yours. My RE coincidentally was the one doing my HSG. She said everything looked good at the time. Tubes were open. She said my uterus tilts backwards, but that's fairly common.
Anyway, at my appt to discuss all the results of the testing, she said the report from the radiologist said that there was possible scar tissue in the pelvic region. My RE said she would only be concerned if I had something in my history (infection or surgery) that would cause it.
So, I'm guessing your scans needed to be scrutinized by a radiologist and that's why the doctor there couldn't tell you more. Hopefully it's not as bad as it sounds it could be.
Im kind of confused why you had a HSG done if you're taking a 2 year break. You'll probably need another one by the time you get back into it. They're usually only good for 1 year,
Good luck!
We had decided to do the repeat loss testing before we decided to take the long break. Even with the break we decided to go through with the testing and the HSG was part of it, along with b/w I will do in early february. I figured if I can do it right now then why not...plus doing all of this while not actively ttc isnt as stressful incase there are actual results from anything. I may have to have another one once was start TTC again and I'm okay with that. If it is a septate uterus or anything else I dont mind knowing now and feeling a little ahead of the game at least knowledge wise when we are ready to TTC again.
Makes sense! I didn't know that a HSG was part of repeat loss testing. It's definitely good to be ahead of the game! Good luck!
