We investigated this pretty thoroughly. L was very interested in BFing, but in the end declined becuase of the medication needed to induce lactation (it has cardiac risks and she already has cardiac concerns.) She did let the kids comfort nurse a handful of times.

My feelings on co-breastfeeding are about the same as my feelings on harvesting one partner's eggs to put them into the other partner: I'm glad the medical knowledge is there to make it happen for those who want to do it, but it's far more intervention and work than I want for us.

We talked about this but by getting pregnant close together so we can both BF the babies. I didn't know you could take pills, if you only have 1 child to feed i think it would be hard work like the story said. But if its something important that you would like to do i say go for it.

We've actually talked about doing this EV would co-breastfeed, but she's pretty against medical intervention so I don't think it will happen. Would be nice for bonding and midnight feedings though....

Because we both carried (and our kids are freakishly close together in age) we both breastfeed both kids. The kids really like to tandem nurse and hold hands

It has been really nice--both for bonding and for support. Even though Eli has been drinking cow's milk at school since he turned 1--Kel is still pumping to help provide daycare bottles for Lex.

When I was pregnant we did not look into this at all. Neither of us were interested in M trying to breastfeed. She took on other duties and the breastfeeding was my thing.

It worked out well for us.

I first heard about this possibility from B, as it was something that she had been interested in regarding the idea of bf-ing an adopted child (a lifetime of plans ago). I think the lack of breast feeding is still one of the things that bothers her most about planning to be the non-biological mom, and it's something that bothers me in thinking about reversing roles. However, despite that, I just don't think it's worth the medical intervention and struggle necessary to make it happen without two close pregnancies. And that's just not right for our family for other reasons.
