Jack has been "reading" to us for a while, but "reading" meant that he had heard the story once or twice and then was able to repeat it back and turn the pages at the correct time.
Over the past couple of days, he has been able to pick up completely new stories and read them to me before nap! I am so impressed w/ him b/c he is reading w/ expression AND comprehension (he'll laugh at appropriate times, explain to me why someone says what they do, etc.). The best part, though, is that he is SO excited about it. He asks me eleventy billion times a day if he can read to me. I love that.
In other news, we were going to the garden store today and I asked him to make me a list. Usually a "list" is just him writing random letters down on the paper, or the classic scribble across a line type of thing. But, today, he sounded out and wrote compost, dirt and seeds all by himself. I got him out of the car and he handed me the list. I was expecting the usual and was thrilled to see that he had written the actual words.
