I posted this on Pregnant after a loss, and someone suggested I post the question over here as well.
I lost DS2 when I went into labor at 26weeks, 4 days gestational age. He died 6.5 hours later due to sepsis from chorioamnionitis. My treating OB and a MFM we were referred to suspect IC, but of course, it cannot be proven (when I started having some weird symptoms a few weeks before DS2's birth, the examining dr just did an internal check, not a transvaginal ultrasound). With a future pregnancy, MFM wants to do 17P shots and monitoring; OB wants to do a preventative TVC.
Anyway, I stumbled across someone mentioning TAC (it may have been on TTCAL board), started researching it, joined Abbeyloopers, and have contacted Drs. Davis and Haney. I've already had a phone consultation with Dr. Davis, who thinks i'm a good candidate. Dr. Haney responded via email stating the same, and I have an appointment for a phone consult with him next week.
I don't feel comfortable posting this question on Abbeyloopers, because I know the doctors are in the group and I do not want to insult or disrespect any of them. But, my question is this: if you were considering both Dr. Davis and Dr. Haney, what made you go to one over the other?
Feel free to PM me. Thank you so much!!
Re: XP with Pregnant AL---TAC ladies, please come in
Firstly, I'm so sorry for the loss of your sweet baby boy.
I have a TAC and went with Dr. Haney due to geography. I'm in TX and he's in Chicago. Dr. D is in NJ. To be honest, Dr. H and Dr. D are THE primo TAC docs in the world. You cannot, absolutely cannot go wrong with either one of them. Dr. Davis posts on Abbyloopers but Dr. H does not.
Something to consider also is that Dr. Haney is closer to retiring than not. He is absolutely fabulous. Fabulous beyond words. He is utterly amazing and God-sent to save babies on this earth. I've heard similar words typed of Dr. D.
They are both considered the "Cadillac of TAC's." You can't do any better than either of them, so I say go for the closest geographically. If you click on my "Bionic Cervix" badge it sends you to my TAC blog where I have lots of info.
lrachelle80 has a Dr. H TAC, and sweetied21 has a Dr. D TAC. jerriesgirl also has one, I think by Dr. H. We all have our rainbow babies. I pray you get yours soon, too. ((HUGS))
PM me if you ever want more info!

I am so sorry about the loss of your sweet baby. Big hugs to you!
I have a TAC placed by Dr. Davis. I chose Dr. Davis because he was closest to me, I'm in PA and he's in NJ. I had a phone consult with him and we exchanged numerous emails. He made me feel 110% confident in the TAC, and he was extremely compassionate, understanding, and calming. I immediately liked him and had confidence in him. He placed my TAC while I was 11 weeks pregnant and I can't say enough good things about him and his entire staff. They were wonderful and amazing! I had several ultrasounds during my stay at the hospital, during the entire procedure he kept telling me my baby was doing great, and he even held my hand while they put the epidural in. I know these seem like little things, but they were so important to me and made me feel so much better.
My MFM here in Pittsburgh wasn't that encouraging about a TAC, thought a TVC would be just fine. The MFM's didn't make me feel nearly as comfortable as Dr. D did, and I just wasn't confident in the TVC. I took p17 shots from weeks 16-36, had bi-weekly ultrasounds from weeks 16-24...these were all a recommended precaution by Dr. D. I had a completely normal pregnancy...no ptl and my cervix looked great at each ultrasound. My beautiful, healthy, baby boy was born at 39 weeks via c-section. He's now almost 9 months:)
If I learned one thing during the entire process it was to be my biggest advocate. It's YOUR body, YOUR baby, YOUR decision. Follow your gut instinct. I was incredibly nervous, and kept wondering if I was making a rash decision, but I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. Like leneae10 said, both of these dr's are the best of the best, and you can't go wrong with either one of them.
Their is also a group on facebook, Transabdominal Cerclage for Incompetent Cervix Support. There are many women on there that have gotten the TAC by Dr. D or Dr. H. They're all very supportive and eager to offer advice and answer any questions. You're welcome to join, it's an open group. Feel free to PM if you have any other questions!
Good luck!
