Swimsuits

Personally I think it's cruel and unusual to put a woman in the position of needing a swimsuit 3 months postpartum, but alas, I will be in Mexico next week.

They have some on mamabargains right now.  So I'm debating.  Ugh.  I have tried on every swim suit I own.  A friend loaned me a few more and some board shorts to try on.  One more friend is mailing me a suit.  Maybe it will work.

I don't want to buy something that won't fit in 6 months, but so far everything has looked awful and these look sort of flattering?  Maybe?  Or maybe all of the models are a size 0.

I really think I'd be perfectly content not getting in the water so I can be more covered up.  Besides, I'm still having random letdowns and can't have boobie pads in a swim suit, unless they make "swim breast pads"?  I can just sit on the beach in my figure flattering a-line skirts, right?

Re: Swimsuits

  • If it were me, I would be the one sitting in the sand, calmly enjoying the air, the sand, and the sound of the ocean in my a-line skirt and tank top.  Less sun burn, less stress=happy momma.

  • I bet Lily Padz would be great for you...they see waterproof.

Dark colors and ruching (sp?) are you friend!  And I'm sure you can find a flows beach caftan that would be flattering and comfortable!

Except that requires buying something :(

  • I agree with sitting on the beach. I'm with you, but I'll have no choice in April. My goal is to loose 20 lbs. by then.GL! I hope you have fun!!

  • I'd sit on the beach.

Shoot, I could use some sun exposure since I haven't been able to go to the tanning booth. I'm Pasty!

  • I feel you!  We are also going on holiday beginning of March, and I need to go swimsuit shopping (I got a Sears giftcard for Christmas).  I am going to go about a week before we fly because somehow my extra weight will just disappear by then. Right?  (Crying into my chocolate cake)

  • I am in your boat!  We leave for FL on Sunday and I just realized none of my shorts fit me!!!  UGH.  Looks like stretchy dresses and skirts for me all week!  I am scared to try on my bathing suits...

  • Just wear a tank-top/t-shirt and board shorts. I haven't owned a swimsuit in years.

A friend loaned me some board shorts but they're too small.  Where do you buy board shorts?

  • LilyPadz say that they're waterproof and you can swim in them.  But truthfully, unless you're just dying to get in the water, I would probably just wear a skirt/tank top combo and just wade in the water.

I got a pregnancy suit over the summer when we went to the beach so that'll hopefully still look decent enough for this summer. Unless (fingers crossed) I lose enough weight to wear a suit I got super cheap before I got pg-it still has the tags on it :(

  • Personally, I would not just sit on the beach, but I love the water..... Your going to Mexico so you should have fun. I would just do it- who is really looking that closely at you in the water? Maybe just buy a bottom at target and wear a tank you already own... And if you let down in water who will know your shirt/suit would already be wet.

I usually just buy $5 one's from Walmart because I'm cheap. You can also look at Target, Marshall's, Ross, etc. They have them almost anywhere they sell swimsuits. Womens ones are usually super short so if your sensitive about your thighs/butt you may want to look at mens as well.
